Busted: Samsung caught pretending a DSLR photo was captured by its own camera phone
Oops! Samsung has had a rough couple of days in the public eye, it would seem. Earlier this week, the company was caught using an iPhone to promote its Galaxy Note 9 on Twitter. Of course the idea that Samsung can’t even get its social media team to use Galaxy phones instead of iPhones is just funny and not really malicious in any way. But a new revelation on Tuesday morning is much more disconcerting, we’re afraid.
It appears as though Samsung is up to its old tricks again, and it was just caught lying about the capabilities of one of the company’s latest camera phones. This might seem like a pretty crazy story just with that bit of information, but things get even better when you learn how Samsung was caught.

New leaks tease Samsung’s final Galaxy S10 all-screen design
There’s no question the Galaxy S10 is the most talked about unreleased handset right now. Just in the last few days, we saw an increasing number of reports detailing the phone’s Infinity-O design, its specs, the camera variations, as well as leaks showing purported screen protectors for the handset and renders based on alleged CAD files. With some three months to go until Samsung announces the Galaxy S10 series, we have more leaks that suggest the phone’s design has been finalized for some time. That’s because accessory makers are making more and more products for the next Samsung flagships.

Samsung apparently wants to bring ‘force touch’ to its smartwatches
Samsung has been working on in-display fingerprint scanning technology for its phones for years, but if a newly published patent is any guide, the South Korea tech giant wants to bring the feature to its smartwatches too.
The folks at Patently Mobile spotted the patent, which was filed with the US Patent Office earlier this year, and hints at the possibility of Samsung using what it refers to as “force touch” technology in its smartphones, (which we already knew) but also smartwatches. This would appear to be an expansion of in-display fingerprint technology that’s expected to show up in next year’s Galaxy S10 models, which would be its first phone with such a sensor.

NASA’s adorable space station AI had an emotional meltdown in his debut
It’s been many months since the European Space Agency announced that it was building an AI for testing aboard the International Space Station. Named “CIMON” (short for Crew Interactive Mobile Companion), the digital helper is finally up and running aboard the ISS, and space station crew are getting a chance to test it out.
No, we’re not in for a HAL-9000 type of scenario (at least not yet), but CIMON definitely still has some quirks to be worked out. In a hilarious debut, the smiling artificial face gives astronauts a good chuckle as it starts to act a bit wonky, and it was all captured on video for us to enjoy.

Watch the new ‘Captain Marvel’ trailer right here
With just three months left until Captain Marvel hits theaters, we got our second extended look at the Marvel Studios movie on Monday night during ESPN’s Monday Night Football halftime show. We didn’t get any clues as to how Carol Danvers’ story will tie into the MCU (or what part she’ll play in the sequel to Avengers: Infinity War next summer), but what we did get was plenty of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. And isn’t that enough?

Here’s another reminder that Samsung’s mobile business needs a jolt
Samsung hung on to the top spot as the biggest smartphone maker in the world in the third quarter, but new data from Gartner shows a continuation of what has been a story of decline when it comes to the South Korea-based tech giant’s handset business.
Samsung, according to the Gartner data, held on to almost 19% of the global smartphone market in the third quarter of this year, topping Huawei in second place with a 13.4% share and Apple with an 11.8% share. Samsung’s share, meanwhile, was down from 22.3% in the third quarter — and it was also the largest year-over-year drop since Gartner began following global smartphone shipments.

Quora discloses major breach that affects 100 million users
You can’t exactly get a sense of the severity of the data breach that Quora disclosed late Monday, which came in the form of a blog post from CEO Adam D’Angelo titled “Quora Security Update.” Nevertheless, the “update” is in actuality a major data breach affecting users of the question-and-answer website — 100 million people, to be exact.
