Oh great, Russian fighter pilots are going to start flying with scary AI wingmen

Well, it seems Russian military officials don’t want to just stop with that fearsome new hypersonic intercontinental ballistic missile that was tested last month, which we told you about and which Russia claims there’s no defense against. It would appear the country’s military forces have also been testing the feasibility of having AI-powered wingmen fly alongside Russian fighter pilots, executing commands issued by the human pilot an inaugurating a scary new chapter in aerial military combat.

News accounts of Russia’s efforts here are the result of images spotted on social media of a drone called Hunter, an unmanned combat vehicle, along with images of a jet called the Sukhoi Su-57. Of particular interest is that fighter jet’s tail. As you can see below, on the tail you can see the shape of a jet as well as an image that seems to be the “Hunter” drone, along with the image of a lighting bolt.

Avengers: Endgame will bring us an epic, yet somewhat tragic conclusion to the first decade of MCU films. We already expect shock and heartbreak for this one, given that it’s another Russo brothers creation. On top of that, Marvel’s top man Kevin Feige teased a tragic finale for Endgame while promoting the next Marvel movie — that’s Captain Marvel, by the way. That doesn’t change the fact that Avengers 4 is the most anticipated movie of the year — what’s Episode IX? — and that it’ll probably shatter records that Infinity War set last spring. While most of the cast is still very quiet about Endgame and their roles in the movie, especially if their characters died in Infinity War, a Marvel star may have just confirmed that a beloved character will appear in the film.

Everything new coming to Netflix this week, and everything leaving (week of Jan. 27)

After a relatively slow week last week, these seven days happen to coincide with the start of a new month, and that means we’ll get the standard deluge of new content on February 1st. All of those shows and movies, combined with a few genuine blockbusters in the final days of January, make this the most exciting week in streaming video of 2019 so far. Of course, it will likely be topped multiple times, but let’s enjoy it while we can.

Personally, Russian Doll is my most anticipated show of February, and lucky for me, it’s out on February 1st. Some of the other highlights this week include Ant-Man and the Wasp, Incredibles 2, Billy Elliot, Jaws, and the totally insane-looking Velvet Buzzsaw. Sadly, we’re also losing The Big Lebowski on Friday, man.

They released competing documentaries on the disastrous Fyre Festival. One announced a big price increase, while prices for the other are dropping. And when it comes to Netflix and Hulu, as always, a ton of new content is on the way to both services.

The past week or so has certainly given us a ton of news on the streaming front, but when you look past all of it — from Hulu dropping the price of its main plan right after Netflix raised its prices, to Netflix picking up 15 Oscar nominations — one of the things people hopefully can start to get a clearer sense of is this. Both services are increasingly fighting different battles, even as they’re talked about more and more as being in direct competition.

We have exactly three months until the premiere of Avengers: Endgame, which means we’re in the home stretch now when it comes to leaks related to marketing. That’s because we expect to see more footage from all the Marvel movies launching this year, and the list includes Captain Marvel, Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home, just as we expect more Avengers related products like figurines and Lego sets to spoil parts of Endgame. But we should pay close attention to what anyone working on these movies says in interviews, from Marvel execs to cast and crew members, because as it turns out, everything matters. The latest spoiler comes from none other than Marvel boss Kevin Feige, who may have delivered a huge revelation about the MCU’s future. In the process, he implies that Avengers 4 will include a tragic finale.

By now we all know that fried foods are not usually the best choice when it comes to healthy eating, but just how bad could they be? A new study aimed to answer that question, and it comes with some serious warnings about specific fried foods.

The study followed over 100,000 individuals — all postmenopausal women — from as early as 1993 through early 2017. The researchers surveyed the women who answered questions about their diets and the scientists kept tabs on their mortality rates. What they found was that fried chicken and fish were the foods most the foods most closely linked to early death.

There’s no room for a T-Mobile streaming service in an already saturated market

%name There’s no room for a T Mobile streaming service in an already saturated market by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Earlier yesterday, a rumor surfaced claiming that T-Mobile would be rolling out a brand new ad-supported TV streaming service over the next few weeks. The rumor didn’t seem all that outrageous given previous reports that T-Mobile has been working on rolling out a skinny bundle of select TV channels.

While the rumored T-Mobile TV streaming service was a far cry from the revolutionary and “disruptive new TV service” T-Mobile CEO John Legere promised to roll out in 2018, it turns out that T-Mobile’s TV plans are even more uninspiring than we first thought.
