Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL full specs leak ahead of official reveal

%name Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL full specs leak ahead of official reveal by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Once again, a major smartphone vendor will have virtually nothing left to reveal at its reveal event, as Google’s mid-range Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones have leaked in full this week. First, courtesy of Max J., we got a look at the retail packaging for the Pixel 3a XL on Tuesday night, then on Wednesday morning, the same source shared the most complete list of specifications for each phone that we have seen on the internet to date.

As expected, these are lower-specced devices than the 2018 flagships that Google launched in the fall. Having had limited success competing with the likes of Samsung and Apple, it appears that Google is going to attempt to court a different crowd with a significantly more affordable device, but from a brand they know well.

Netflix May 2019 releases: The full calendar of 62 new Netflix originals coming this month

%name Netflix May 2019 releases: The full calendar of 62 new Netflix originals coming this month by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

May 2019 is going to be a huge month for Netflix original content — and it had damn well better be, in light of the fact that the world’s top streaming entertainment service is raising all of its subscription prices this month. There’s always some blowback when prices increase, of course, but most subscribers seem happy to pay the newly raised rates, which will be Netflix’s biggest price hike ever. The company’s most popular plan will get the most substantial increase, an 18% jump from $10.99 to $12.99. The basic plan will climb to $8.99 from $7.99, and the premium plan that includes 4K streaming will go from $13.99 to $15.99.

Those are some hefty price jumps, so Netflix has a big month planned in an effort to help ease the pain. Where third-party content is concerned, tons of popular titles are set to be added to Netflix’s content catalog. Highlights include two Austin Powers movies, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Scarface, Scream, Wedding Crashers, Zombieland, and all three movies from The Matrix trilogy. That’s all well and good, but everyone is far more interested in seeing the new Netflix originals that are set to debut in May.

A whopping 62 different original shows, movies, and specials are coming to Netflix this month, and that’s the highest tally of 2019 so far. The action starts right on day 1 with Knock Down The House, a documentary that follows Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and three other young female politicians as they sought to shake up the status quo in the 2018 Congressional elections. Then this Friday, May 3rd, 12 different Netflix originals will debut, including the first season of Dead To Me, a dark comedy starring Christina Applegate.

You’ll find the full schedule of Netflix’s original releases in May 2019 below, and you can can also see the full release schedule including third-party content right here.

Apple’s leaked iPhone 11 design looks stunning in this new video

%name Apple’s leaked iPhone 11 design looks stunning in this new video by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

There are so many flagship Android smartphones set to be released in the next few months, and several of them are already stirring up some serious hype. Even still, there is no unreleased smartphone out there that has been generating as much buzz as the upcoming iPhone 11. Early details surrounding the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max, and iPhone 11R that leaked last year painted a somewhat boring picture of Apple’s next-generation smartphones. The hardware design was rumored to be almost identical to the 2018 iPhone XS series and the 2017 iPhone X, and there wasn’t much talk of any innovative new features that fans might look forward to. As we get closer to the iPhone 11’s release date, however, the puzzle continues to come together — and it looks better and better with each passing day.

TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is the world’s top Apple insider, and he’s plugged into the company’s supply chain. Kuo has shared a number of details about Apple’s upcoming new iPhone 11 models, and he’s almost always accurate when it comes to iPhone leaks. The analyst says Apple’s new iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max will both get a huge camera upgrade with a triple-lens rear camera array, which is fantastic news. Apple used to be a leader in the mobile camera space, but the company has fallen far behind Google and Huawei in recent years. We can also look forward to a big bump in performance and a refined design with a frosted glass back, according to Kuo.

Following Kuo’s reports, Apple’s final iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max design was revealed in a series of leaks. That design has now been reimagined in a new video, and the results are simply stunning.

Facebook’s new ‘Secret Crush’ isn’t cute, it’s creepy

%name Facebook’s new ‘Secret Crush’ isn’t cute, it’s creepy by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Facebook kicked off its F8 2019 event on Tuesday, announcing various new features for its social networks and chat apps. Facebook users were promised a significant redesign, Messenger is getting new desktop apps on top of a few handy features, and Instagram is losing all those likes. Facebook Dating, a service that’s only available in a few markets right now, also got a new feature called “Secret Crush,” which will let you match with your Facebook friends in a Tinderesque kind of way. But the feature isn’t exactly cute. It’ more like creepy considering where is coming from. Mark Zuckerberg and Co. are pivoting towards privacy, but with all the privacy-infringing scandals and security issues starring Facebook in the past couple of years, it would be foolish to trust the company with even more sensitive data about yourself.
