NASA’s InSight lander has been sitting safely on Mars for a number of months now after landing back in late 2018, and it’s already making a name for itself with a number of interesting discoveries. Most recently, the robotic lander detected what scientists believe may be the first recorded “marsquake” ever, but the bot’s talents go beyond its sensitive ears.

Along with its suite of vibration-sensing equipment and digging tools the InSight is equipped with a high-resolution lens that NASA can point at whatever seems interesting. Now, thanks to some nice timing on NASA’s behalf, we are treated to a gorgeous view of the Martian sunset from the lander’s perspective.

We speculated well before Avengers: Endgame hit cinemas that it would be an emotional rollercoaster, and that’s precisely what Marvel’s epic conclusion of these first 11 years of films turned out to be. Roughly a decade from now, a rather sizable space rock is going to have a very close encounter with Earth — on Friday the 13th, no less. On April 13th, 2029, the asteroid known as Apophis will pass by Earth at a distance of just 19,000 miles.

For a bit of context, the Moon is somewhere between 225,000 and 252,000 miles away at any given time. Yeah, this is going to be one seriously close shave, but as Space.com reports it’s going to be a day of celebration for scientists rather than fear, and the next decade will give researchers around the world an opportunity for something of a end-of-the-world “dry run” as they explore what measures they might one day have to take if a large space rock would ever threaten our survival.

We’re so used to Sony inundating us with first-party exclusive for the PlayStation 4 that this year feels incredibly empty by comparison. Sure, Days Gone came out last week, but there really isn’t all that much left to look forward to in the near future. That shouldn’t come as much of a surprise though, as the company has already begun hyping up its next-generation console, despite the fact that it’s at least a year away.

With all that in mind, the PlayStation Plus freebies are going to be even more important in the coming months, and though May’s selection is decent, it’s not going to bowl anyone over either. Both titles are over two years old, but if they’re still not in your library, be sure to add them before the month is over.

Like many of the larger bodies in our solar system, Saturn’s massive moon Titan has long been of interest to astronomers due to its unique surface features. NASA’s Cassini spacecraft, which studied Saturn for over 13 years, spent a great deal of time examining Titan as well, and data it gathered is still yielding new discoveries.

Now, a new paper published in Nature Astronomy reveals the existence of a rather peculiar feature of Titan that has remained hidden from view thanks to the moon’s hazy atmosphere. A massive strip of water ice dominates a huge portion of the planet’s midsection, stretching for nearly 4,000 miles, and its discovery has left scientists wondering what caused it.

It looks like Huawei is about to open a new front in its ongoing battle with Samsung for consumer electronics supremacy. The Chinese brand is rumored to be working on a TV with an 8K display and built-in 5G connectivity — the first such TV in the world, and one that eliminates the need for a cable box or home Internet connection.

The TV would reportedly be introduced as soon as this year, according to a piece today from Nikkei.
