Humans are getting bigger, and that means more strain on the world’s food supply

%name Humans are getting bigger, and that means more strain on the world’s food supply by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Everyone knows that obesity is a major health crisis in the United States and many other countries, but humans aren’t just getting fatter, we’re also getting bigger overall. Humans are getting larger and larger, and the average person is now significantly taller than the averages of decades past.

On top of that, we eat more, and that’s bad news for planet Earth.

A new study conducted by researchers with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) reveals that the nutritional demands for the human race are steadily climbing, and not just because there’s more of us. Larger people need to eat more, and as humans get larger, that’s going to put additional strain on food supplies.

Judge orders Amazon to deliver Echo recordings to prosecutors for a murder case

%name Judge orders Amazon to deliver Echo recordings to prosecutors for a murder case by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The way that Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistant is ready to respond to your queries is that Echo speakers are always listening for the hotword that wakes them up. In other words, Amazon is listening, in part, to your conversations, and sometimes weird accidents happen. But because your Echo is listening, and because they do send recordings of your queries back to Amazon, prosecutors in a case want Amazon to make data from a particular smart speaker accessible to them.

Even with what little we knew already about The Mandalorian, a live-action Star Wars spinoff series coming to the Disney+ streaming video service that’s launching next year, it definitely sounds like the kind of thing fans of a certain galaxy far, far away will want to check out as soon as it arrives.

The story of an outlaw gunslinger from the planet Mandalore who doesn’t follow the beat of the Republic’s drum? Yes, please. And now we have a good idea who’s lined up to play the title character — our sister publication Variety reports that Game of Thrones and Narcos veteran Pedro Pascal is in talks for the starring role.

Hey, want a cup of coffee? I don’t actually have one to give you, but it’s a nice intro to talk about NASA’s latest photo of gas giant and ruler of our Solar System, Jupiter. Juno, the trusty probe that is currently cruising around Jupiter and helping scientists study the planet, delivered a pretty stunning new image recently, and boy does it look tasty.

The image, which was captured on October 29th, shows Jupiter’s towering cloud tops in high detail. Those swirling storms stretch deep into the planet, but up top they look like a delicious latte with cream and caramel. And don’t argue with me about that.

%name Samsung may be working on a foldable tablet, in addition to its foldable phone by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

At this point, Samsung apparently just wants to fold all the things.

In all seriousness, the South Korea-based tech giant sees enough promise in bringing the foldable form factor to multiple mobile devices that it’s begun taking more than one serious stab in this direction. The Galaxy F, of course, being the much-hyped first foldable phone that’s on the way from the company in March, and a new patent also suggests the largest smartphone maker in the world apparently wants foldable tablets to be a thing, too.

%name One of the best Android phones isn’t officially available in the US, but it is on eBay by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Of all the phones that launched last month, only one device features the kind of next-gen features that will only be available from rival devices at some point in the first quarter of 2019. That handset, available in a large number of markets, will never officially launch in the US, and Android fans already know what device I’m talking about. But that device — Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro — is actually available in the US, unofficially, from eBay.
