Ahead of the FCC’s meeting on Wednesday focused on toughening up caller ID rules to make it harder for spam callers to hide their identity, a new report is out that shows the effect such calls are having on Americans’ overall smartphone usage. No surprise, one of the big takeaways is that we’re answering our phones less often.

Video game publishers gave us a few weeks off to catch our breath at the start of 2019, but the release schedule just picked up in a major way as Resident Evil 2 and Kingdom Hearts III both launched within days of each other. And it’s only going to get busier from here on out, as February is packed to the gills with anticipated titles, including Anthem, Far Cry New Dawn, Crackdown 3, Metro Exodus, and Wargroove.

But what about the free games? As always, Microsoft is giving away two free Xbox One games and two free Xbox 360 games (which are backward compatible with the Xbox One) to all Gold subscribers. The highlight of February is probably Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, though Assassin’s Creed Rogue is truly underrated.

When you’re vacationing in a place like Australia it’s normal to want to show folks back home all the neat things you come across. However, it’s still a good idea to keep from handling strange wildlife with your bare hands, especially if you have no idea how deadly it might be.

A somewhat mysterious video that has gotten a lot of attention over the past few days is a great reminder of that. In the clip, an unidentified tourist shows off his latest discovery, an adorable little octopus covered in bright blue stripes. It’s the kind of thing that vacation videos are made for, but unfortunately the tiny creature in question is incredibly toxic and carry enough venom to dispatch dozens of full grown adults.

Apple posts fiscal Q1 earnings: Revenue reaches $84 billion as iPhone revenue drops by 15%

Typically, Apple’s earnings report for the holiday quarter is a sight to behold. After all, Apple over the years has consistently and impressively delivered jaw-dropping revenue, monstrous iPhone sales, and of course, record-setting profits that simply put most every other company on the planet to shame.

The most recent holiday quarter, though, is a little bit different. Sure, Apple is still making money hand over fist, but Tim Cook a few weeks back wrote a letter to investors and informed them that Apple’s revenue for the holiday quarter would be a few billion dollars less than initially anticipated. No, the sky isn’t falling, but Apple’s bottom line was hit hard by poor performance across its entire product line in China.

‘Fortnite’ finally supports Bluetooth controllers on iOS and Android

%name ‘Fortnite’ finally supports Bluetooth controllers on iOS and Android by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

At long last, mobile Fortnite players will stand a chance against their console counterparts. On Tuesday, Epic Games shared the patch notes for the Fortnite v7.30 update, which includes support for Bluetooth controllers on Android and iOS devices. This has been a long time coming, as Epic first announced it was working on the feature last year, but this should help to level the playing field for those who prefer to play on a phone or tablet.

According to Epic’s patch notes, most Bluetooth controller adapters should work on Android, including Steelseries Stratus XL, Gamevice, XBox1, Razer Raiju, and Moto Gamepad. On iOS, all MFi controllers should be compatible, like Steelseries Nimbus and Gamevice. If you own a Bluetooth controller, you’re likely good to go.

Samsung gets closer to launching new wireless Galaxy earbuds

%name Samsung gets closer to launching new wireless Galaxy earbuds by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We told you just a few days ago that Samsung apparently has some new products to announce soon, possibly as soon as its upcoming Unpacked 2019 event on February 20. And now one of those two products, a set of wireless earbuds, has been all but confirmed via an FCC filing.

Registration documentation is actually what’s revealed the seeming existence of the two products that we mentioned are coming — the buds, along with a new Galaxy Fit fitness tracker. The buds would be a successor to last year’s Galaxy IconX and were recently listed on the Bluetooth SIG website. Among their specs, they’ll support Bluetooth 5.0 and include 8GB of internal storage. And now the hardware has picked up its certification from the FCC in the US, as spotted by 91Mobiles.
