The Martian, a new science fiction movie starring Matt Damon and directed by Ridley Scott, is one of the most anticipated movies coming later this year. Whether or not the film is actually any good, there’s no doubt it’s already received a first-rate marketing effort and its latest guerrilla marketing video is by far its coolest yet.

When it comes to tech coverage, Forbes is generally a pretty mixed bag. The site publishes content from a huge number of contributors, some of whom know their stuff, and some of whom are great for some comic relief and little else.
On Wednesday morning, I read a post on Forbes that fell into the former category. It was a nice quick post about Android bloatware, and it explained why future Android devices may have less of it. The post was well written, made a few good points, and offered a good quote from a VP of engineering at Google for support.
Then, Forbes’ social media editor completely ruined the post for me with a single tweet.

A couple of months ago, Lexus introduced its rideable Hoverboard to the world in a YouTube video. We couldn’t be certain whether or not it was a prank, as no one actually rode the floating skateboard in the video, but earlier this month, we finally got to see the Hoverboard in action. It was incredible, but even with video proof, it’s still hard to believe it’s real.

Apple’s upcoming next-generation iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are going to add some fantastic new features to the company’s smartphone lineup, but there are some great features iPhones will never have out of the box. It’s not because Apple wants people to miss out on these experiences, per se, but rather that Apple focuses on features that will appeal to the broadest range of users.

Does anyone actually think Donald Trump is a devout Christian? If he is then he has a very funny way of showing it — after all, if you ever ask yourself “What would Jesus do?” the answer never involves trashing prisoners of war for getting captured, declaring that Mexican immigrants are “rapists” or insinuating that a woman only asked you tough questions because she was menstruating. Nonetheless, Trump insists that the Bible is his favorite book, which inspired some clever people on Twitter to imagine what the Bible would have been like if it had been written by Trump. Earlier this week, a report said that Apple has already reserved a massive auditorium for its upcoming iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus launch, the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium that can house significantly more guests than Apple’s usual keynote locations. A new report seems to confirm that Apple has indeed booked the place for a week in September, adding credence to a report from a trusted source who said a few weeks ago the iPhone fall event is scheduled for September 9th this year.

Facebook’s mobile Messenger app is arguably one of the most used messaging apps out there, being available to both registered and unregistered Facebook users. The app offers VoIP and video calls on top of regular instant messaging, and a slew of other features. Facebook, however, is not done pimping out Messenger, and the company has created its own virtual assistant that’s supposed to take on competitors, including Siri, Google Now and Cortana, but with a huge twist.
And no, the fact that it’s called M has nothing to do with James Bond’s boss, who happens to be the head of the MI6.

Those of us who were raised on science fiction shows and books know that black holes are something to be avoided since they will inevitably suck your spaceship into an infinitely dense void from which nothing — not even light — can escape. However, physicist Stephen Hawking has proposed a new theory about black holes that suggests they not be as all-powerful as we once thought, although you still would never want fly into one.
