When Europe told Google that its citizens have a “right to be forgotten” by search results, the stated intention was to let ordinary citizens ask to have embarrassing links about them removed from Google search results. Or put another way, with this new rule the poor Star Wars Kid could finally get some peace in his life by asking Google to remove all links to the infamous video of him swinging a fake light saber around. However, there are some obvious unintended consequences of this “right to be forgotten” rule as it can easily be used by powerful people to censor negative information about them.

In terms of launches, Microsoft has been relatively quiet since taking over Nokia’s devices and services business. In fact, the company’s only launch to speak of was the Nokia X2, an Android-powered device that will never see the light of day in the United States. Rumors continue to swirl that suggest Microsoft has several Lumia smartphones in the works though, and it looks like one of them has broken cover for the first time.

Apple is announcing its third-quarter earnings on July 22nd, but in the meantime we’ll have to be satisfied with hearing the projections of various financial analysts. Today’s latest predictions come from Maynard Um at Wells Fargo Securities, and in a report picked up by AppleInsider, he projects that Apple will beat Wall Street predictions and have another record quarter based almost solely on the strength of iPhone sales.

The music industry just can’t win. TorrentFreak reports that less than 24 hours after Argentina implemented a new blockade for The Pirate Bay following complaints from the music industry’s Argentine Chamber of Phonograms and Videograms Producers (CAPIF), hackers invaded CAPIF’s website and turned it into “a fully functioning and blockade-circumventing Pirate Bay proxy.”

Sunset Overdrive is one of our most anticipated games of the year, but we haven’t seen a whole lot of it through the first half of 2014. The walls finally came down at E3 2014 as the press went behind closed doors to see the game up close and personal while everyone else had the chance to go hands-on with the Chaos Squad mode on the show floor. Facebook has repeatedly shown us that it is not afraid to bet big on the future. The company sees mobile messaging as a staple for years to come, and it spent an astronomical $19 billion to buy WhatsApp, the biggest name in the business. Virtual Reality is a still-emerging area that could also become a huge market in the future, so Facebook spent a reported $2 billion to acquire Oculus, one of the hottest names in VR. We’ve seen plenty of iWatch concept images and videos over the past several months, but now that we know at least one version of the iWatch’s display is expected to stretch to 2.5 inches, it might be time to re-imagine Apple’s first entry into wearables. SET Solution, the same consulting company that mocked up its own vision of the iPad Pro earlier this year, is back with a concept video of the iWatch that really puts the 2.5-inch display into perspective.
