Some time ago, when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth, there were no smartphones to help teens and tweens take selfies on the go. Instead, if you wanted a selfie, you had to find an establishment with a photo booth, drop in a few quarters, and then sit down and make funny faces to create a sequence of four photos. Now, the magic of that simpler time has been recaptured by an iPhone app called Pocketbooth — minus the need to actually go anywhere, of course.

God of War has been repackaged more than once in the nine years since its original release, but for good reason: it’s one of the best action franchises to ever hit Sony’s home console. The first port of the PlayStation 2 classic to reach retail was God of War Collection on the PlayStation 3, a compilation of the first two titles in the series on one disc. A third and fourth full console title and two well-received portable releases later, Sony has decided to revisit the original God of War Collection, bringing God of War I and God of War II to the PS Vita for the first time. But how do the classics hold up nearly a decade later?

If you find that your monthly phone and cable bills have been eating into a bigger chunk of your budget, you aren’t alone — in fact, you’re perfectly normal. In an article on upcoming cable and telecom mergers, The Wall Street Journal cites data from the U.S. Department of Labor showing that average household spending on phone, pay TV and Internet rose to $2,237 per year in 2012, a 20% increase from 2007. In contrast, overall household spending rose by just 3.6% over the same period.

Last week, we attended Canadian Tire’s Spring Media Driving event to put the Continental Tires TrueContact all-season tire through its paces. The weather at Ontario Place was a balmy 15 degrees with nary a cloud in sight. In other words, a perfect day to make the switch from winter tires to all-season/summer tires.

In order to test any tire, it’s always best to have several “real-world” scenarios set up. Canadian Tire set up a slalom course, a pothole simulator, and a wet emergency braking course for us to drive through in their provided fleet of Audi A4s wearing the Continental TrueContact all-seasons and a comparison fleet of A4s wearing their Tier 1 competitor’s tires.

Scroll down for our rundown of the day and our impressions and review of the TrueContact.

VP Out, Sunoco In as NHRA Official Fuel For 2015

The NHRA has announced an agreement whereby Sunoco has been named the official fuel of NHRA beginning in 2015. The following is a response to the announcement by VP’s president, Alan Cerwick:

As NHRA’s official fuel through the end of the 2014 season, VP Racing Fuels will continue to service the remaining NHRA races in the same professional and efficient way we always have.

We are exceedingly proud of our contribution to the quality of NHRA’s on-track product over the last 15 years. Given our support of drag racing throughout our 39-year history, we don’t intend to stop now. In anticipation of NHRA’s decision, we have developed a multi-tiered strategy to increase our involvement in other areas of drag racing and continue our efforts to help grow the sport.

While we are disappointed that our relationship with NHRA will not continue, we want to assure all our customers and the industry at large that this will not affect VP financially nor will it hinder our ability to compete aggressively with industry-leading fuels and other products. VP is a strong company, much different and more diverse than the company that first signed on as the official fuel of NHRA in 2000.

VP is enjoying a strong year in 2014 with increasing sales and domination in many forms of racing all over the world. In addition to fueling the popular Tudor United SportsCar Championship and other IMSA-sanctioned series this year, we just signed on as Official Fuel Supplier to Watkins Glen International in New York, the Isle of Man TT in the UK and extended our relationships with New England Dragway, Maple Grove Raceway, Atco Raceway, DIRTCar and the World of Outlaws. Besides race fuel, our consumer products and VP-branded gas stations are also experiencing robust growth — growth that not only will continue but accelerate in 2015 and beyond.

We wish NHRA good luck and sincerely hope they’ll have success with their racing events in the future. In the meantime we intend to continue executing our strategy for growth, the best of which is yet to come.
