Becoming by Michelle Obama
In a life filled with meaning and accomplishment, Michelle Obama has emerged as one of the most iconic and compelling women of our era. As First Lady of the United States of America—the first African American to serve in that role—she helped create the most welcoming and inclusive White House in history, while also establishing herself as a powerful advocate for women and girls in the U.S. and around the world, dramatically changing the ways that families pursue healthier and more active lives, and standing with her husband as he led America through some of its most harrowing moments. Along the way, she showed us a few dance moves, crushed Carpool Karaoke, and raised two down-to-earth daughters under an unforgiving media glare.
In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her—from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the world’s most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it—in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same.
Becoming: $19.50

Samsung’s own Galaxy S10 chip gets benchmarked for the first time
A few days ago, we saw leaked Galaxy S10 benchmarks for the Snapdragon 8150 versions, which showed notable performance gains over previous-generation silicon, although some of those scores weren’t able to touch the new iPhones, which rock Apple’s powerful A12 processor. Now we have an AnTuTu benchmark leak for the Exynos 9820 processor that Samsung announced a few weeks ago, which will power some Galaxy S10 versions next year. However, the 9820’s score is significantly lower than the 8150.

Elon Musk says there’s a 70% chance he’s going to move to Mars
Elon Musk wants humans to make it to Mars. With his company SpaceX at his back, he’s pushed forward with some incredibly bold claims about what is possible for mankind on the Red Planet. He’s shown off concepts for Mars settlements and even called out scientists who say climate engineering on the planet is impossible.
Now, in an interview with HBO’s Axios, Musk doubles down on one of the more off-the-wall claims he’s made during his years in the spotlight. Mars, he says, will be his eventual home, and he estimates his odds of moving to the planet at a generous 70%.

New details leak about four different upcoming Galaxy S10 models
Ahead of its expected unveiling at Mobile World Congress in February, the leaks related to Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S10 have been coming hard and fast. Among the latest is the fact that three S10 variants have been certified in Russia, which underscores that Samsung is working on at least four different models of the handset.
According to SamMobile, one of the models certified in Russia is an S10 variant that will come with dual SIM card support. No other details were revealed about the other two models, which earlier reports have suggested will include one with a 6.4-inch display that’s also nearly bezel-free and sports a 1440 x 3040 pixel resolution. That one will also come with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor as well as five cameras — three in the back and the two on the front.

Rumors suggest Huawei could beat Samsung to an innovate new phone design
Up until Monday morning, it looked as if nothing could put a dent in the Galaxy S10 buzz out there. A number of reports in the past few weeks have painted a clear picture: Samsung will soon launch its best smartphone — a phone that will feature a unique Infinity-O display that other companies won’t have access to for quite a while.
But an increasing number of leaks indicate that Huawei wants to crash Samsung’s Galaxy S10 party by releasing a phone with a hole in the display months before the Galaxy S10 is properly announced.

For some queries, Google thinks it’s better to just show you an answer instead of links
Google has confirmed that it’s rolling out a new search-related feature on a wider basis after first launching as an experiment earlier this year. This particular feature might sound like it undermines the main thing you know Google Search for, which is that it’s supposed to serve up a vast trove of links to answer queries you make.
But not every query — say, what if you’re asking for the answer to 2 plus 2? — requires a ton of links. In fact, in some cases, a single, direct answer will do just fine. You get your answer quicker, and Google’s completion of your query gets even faster. With that in mind, welcome to Google’s direct answer feature.

Wild rumor says Galaxy S10 will have up to 12GB of RAM and 1TB of built-in storage
This year is slowly drawing to a close, which means we’re in full Galaxy S10 rumor season ahead of its early 2019 launch. Just in the past few days, we’ve seen a variety of reports detailing the phone’s Infinity-O display, leaked screen protectors included, as well as the 5G version of the handset, which should be the true flagship of the S10 line.
Samsung Mobile is pulling out all the stops on this one, seeking a win after a less than stellar year so far. But will we have a Galaxy S10 version out there sporting 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage? At least one source thinks so.

Google Duplex phone calls aren’t doing a good job of disclosing their robotic nature
You could be forgiven for thinking this sounds like something right out of a science fiction novel: Google has started pushing out its new Duplex feature to what is described as a small number of Pixel smartphone owners, which means those users can now use Google’s automated AI to call restaurants and some other businesses to make reservations on the users’ behalf. Which sounds pretty cool!
However, reports are coming in regarding some of the early calls being made using Duplex, and it sounds like Google still hasn’t settled on definitive language that’s specific enough to make it clear that a robot — not a human — is what the business on the other end of the phone is speaking with.

Top iOS shopping apps were downloaded almost 2M times on Black Friday
We knew this year’s Black Friday was going to be particularly massive, with shoppers generating a historic amount of revenue for retailers as part of the busy holiday shopping weekend. But retailers also have another reason to feel good about how things shook out on Friday, given that the mobile apps of the biggest retailers were download some 2 million times on Black Friday.
That figure represents new downloads, and it’s also specific only to Apple’s App Store, according to new data from Sensor Tower. Google Play Store figures weren’t available yet, meaning that total is going to climb a lot higher.
