Rough controls mar an otherwise nostalgic experience

In 2016, the most common selling point for a game is a near-limitless amount of content. Whether it’s the expansive maps of The Witcher 3 and Grand Theft Auto V, the addictive level progression system of Call of Duty or the user-generated world of Super Mario Maker, gamers expect to get their money’s worth.

But in 1997, we didn’t need 80-hour stories and prestige modes to bring us back to a game over and over again. All we needed was great gameplay, and that’s exactly what Star Fox 64 offered every Nintendo 64 owner two decades ago.

Nearly 20 years later, Nintendo is trying to recapture the magic.

Hackers have come up with a sneaky way to steal your personal information and they’re doing it by sending a simple text message to your iPhone. Per NBCBayArea.com, it seems some iPhone users have been receiving dodgy text messages informing them that their Apple ID has “expired” and that they’ll need to go to a certain website to retrieve it. Of course, this website turns out to be a malicious website owned by hackers and Slawek Ligier of Barracuda Networks tells NBCBayArea.com that when you open it, it will “ask for your name, address, even your passport information.”

Should Android be illegal?

%name Should Android be illegal? by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Nothing in this world is free. Whether or not you pay for something with money, you always pay. Google has built a massive empire that revolves around this concept. Nearly all of the services it offers are “free,” from search and email to calendaring, mapping, productivity software and more. But none of those services are actually free — Google collects and analyzes all sorts of crucially important private data about its users in order to help profile them and serve them advertisements that are better targeted than any other ad platform in the world.

The Android platform is also “free” for Google’s vendor partners, but Google is not a charity. Its entire model revolves around a tradeoff: companies can use Android and have access to the Play Store for free so that Google’s various services are front and center among their users. Now, the European Union has charged Google in an antitrust case alleging that Google’s Android platform breaks the law.

The locked iPhone 5c belonging to one of the San Bernardino shooters is one of the best-known iPhones in the world thanks to the FBI vs. Apple fight over encryption that we’ve witness in recent weeks. Both the FBI and Apple had their way. The FBI managed to unlock the handset in its quest to find leads related to the investigation, but it did so without Apple’s help. The iPhone maker, meanwhile, avoided a court order that may have forced it to unlock it by circumventing its own security features built into iOS 9.

The FBI was quick to unlock the iPhone with the help of an unnamed party, and we now know what it found.
