How often do you leave your house after spending 10 minutes lint-rolling your clothes only to find out once you’re outside in the daylight that you missed a whole bunch of spots? If you have a dog like mine who sheds non-stop all year round, it happens pretty often. That’s exactly why I recently picked up a few Magic Folding Travel Lint Rollers. I keep one in my car, a second in my office, and then I have a third that I sometimes carry with me. These things are tiny enough to fit anywhere, and they work just as well as full size rollers.

Magic Folding Travel Lint Roller – Folding, Compact, Foldable Travel Lint Roller Lint Remover-…: $5.00

Here’s what you need to know from the product page:

  • Compact, folding lint roller is perfectly sized for travel
  • Ideal to keep in the car, purse, or briefcase for quick touch ups
  • Reusable silicone lint roller can be rinsed in warm water and used time after time
  • Keep clothes lint free, anywhere you go!
  • Folds to dimensions of 4″ x 1.5″

Dunkin’ Donuts warns that its DD Perks program may have been hacked

%name Dunkin’ Donuts warns that its DD Perks program may have been hacked by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Despite the vast amount of resources companies typically spend on thwarting hacking, it seems that we can’t even go a few weeks without a new company issuing a statement about some sort of security breach. The latest victim in this regard appears to be Dunkin’ Donuts, with the nationwide chain issuing a statement earlier today about a security breach involving its DD Perks program.

According to the statement, an unauthorized third-party in late October accessed information pertaining to the company’s DD Perks program. The working theory at the moment is that the hacker or hackers involved obtained usernames and passwords from a previous and unrelated security breach and subsequently tried to use said usernames and passwords to access any number of online accounts.

Facebook considered selling user data to advertisers, which should shock no one

%name Facebook considered selling user data to advertisers, which should shock no one by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

For all the chaos and confusion surrounding Facebook over the past several months, one thing that the social media giant had to hang its hat on was that it has never sold user data. CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed as much during a congressional hearing in April, telling the committee in no uncertain terms: “We don’t sell data.”

Unsurprisingly, as you might have guessed, that’s not the whole story. According to The Wall Street Journal, internal emails show Facebook did in fact consider charging other companies for access to its massive trove of data several years ago. Facebook employees also discussed “pushing some advertisers to spend more in return for increased access to user information.” In other words, monetizing user data was definitely on the table.

Life expectancy in the United States continues to decline, and officials know why

%name Life expectancy in the United States continues to decline, and officials know why by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Life expectancy in the U.S. has fallen once again, following a trend that began in 2015 when the average expected life span of a baby born in the United States took a small but significant hit. It continued in 2016 and now the numbers for 2017 have been tallied and appear to follow the same downward slope.

A trio of reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released yesterday reveal that, while all 10 of the leading causes of death from 2016 remain identical to those of 2017, another factor is contributing the overall decline in life expectancy. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably already know what it is: drugs.

Wasps are annoying and sometimes painful for us humans but they are even more of a problem for insects that they prey upon. One particularly creepy new discovery made by insect researchers reveals that a a newly-discovered species of wasp in the Amazon basically zombifies spiders to do its bidding.

The research, which was published in Ecological Entomology, describes how the gruesome life cycle of the wasp species relies upon “social” spiders that live in groups. The spiders first act as hosts for parasitic larva and, eventually, as a full meal.
