Last night marked the end of an era as Jon Stewart said goodbye as host of The Daily Show after 17 years. The satirical Comedy Central news show has ignited several careers over the years and one of its most successful offspring has been Stephen Colbert, who will be taking over David Letterman’s spot on CBS’s The Late Show this fall. Say a prayer for HTC — it’s entered the same black hole that once consumed BlackBerry and Nokia. Per The Guardian, HTC last quarter suffered a net loss of Tw$8 billion (USD$253), the company’s biggest net loss ever. The company’s smartphone business is getting hammered by low-cost competitors such as Xiaomi and now it’s apparently pinning its hopes for a turnaround on its HTC Vive virtual reality headset.

Earlier this year, Fox announced that it was interested in bringing the X-Men franchise to television. Fox entertainment chairman Gary Newman said at the time that he was “cautiously optimistic” about the deal with Marvel, but that it would still be a while before the studio turned its focus to the creative side of things.
On Thursday, our interest was reignited when Fox Television Group chairman and CEO Dana Walden told The Hollywood Reporter that an agreement might be right around the corner.

If there’s one way the Xbox One is much better than the PlayStation 4 – at least right now – it’s that Microsoft announced backwards compatibility for previous-generation games. That means more Xbox 360 games will be playable on the Xbox One in the future, which should convince some longtime Xbox 360 gamers to upgrade.
