Watch NASA scientists pretend the Australian Outback is Mars

Next year is going to be a pretty big deal for scientists studying Mars, with both NASA’s Mars 2020 mission and the ExoMars rover mission kicking off in the summer. NASA, the European Space Agency, and Russia’s Roscosmos are all doing their best to plan for the landing of their respective rovers, and they recently gathered in a place that looks a lot like Mars to test a few new ideas.

The international group of researchers met in Australia and set their sights on the dry and dusty conditions of the Australian Outback, which is a decent analog for the Red Planet.

12 new trailers you need to watch: Ad Astra, Bombshell, Rambo, and more

%name 12 new trailers you need to watch: Ad Astra, Bombshell, Rambo, and more by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Good Boys turned out to be the surprise winner of last weekend’s box office rankings, raking in a few million more than some of the blockbuster films that launched in previous weeks. Still, Hobbs and Shaw and The Lion King are still going strong and will have little to fear from incoming horror movie Ready or Not and the new Fallen sequel.

What’s more interesting this weekend is the roster of new trailers for coming attraction, featuring a bunch of flicks I’ve already added to my shortlist for the coming months.

If you want to make sure your steak or any other meat is cooked perfectly each and every time, there’s no better way to do it than with a meat thermometer. Of course, taking your steak off the heat a bunch of times or opening your grill to check the internal temperature can affect your cook. Don’t worry though, because there’s a better way. The MEATER True Wireless Smart Meat Thermometer is a little device that you stick in your meat and leave it in while you cook. It connects to an app on your iPhone or Android and constantly monitors internal temperature until it reaches the exact temp you want, then it alerts you. Presto, you’ve got the exact doneness you want each and every time — and there’s even a new version with four MEATERs that’s $40 off right now!

%name Ms. Marvel, She Hulk, and Moon Knight will join Phase 4 with their own Disney+ shows by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Although the wait between Marvel Cinematic Universe movies can be excruciating for fans of the franchise, Marvel Studios is going to have an opportunity to fill in the gaps with shows on Disney+. Four of those shows — The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, WandaVision, and Hawkeye — were officially announced at Comic-Con International in June, but studio head Kevin Feige had even more to reveal at Disney’s D23 Expo this week.

FAA warning to idiots who add weapons to their drones: Expect a $25,000 fine

%name FAA warning to idiots who add weapons to their drones: Expect a $25,000 fine by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

There is a rite of passage, it seems, for a certain kind of person who acquires a drone. First, buy said drone. Have fun experiencing the novelty of playing with it. After that, see what you can get away with adding to it — which, for some people, unfortunately, means adding everything from weapons to flamethrowers to god knows what else and then posting the insanity to YouTube.

It’s gotten to the point where the Federal Aviation Administration has now decided to weigh in, with a no-nonsense warning the agency has just published that threatens a $25,000 fine for any idiots that try this in the future.

Coming down with a nasty Salmonella infection can easily sideline even the healthiest of people, but it’s when the bacteria show resistance to common treatments things start to look particularly scary.

A drug-resistant strain of Salmonella is at the center of a new report from the Centers for Disease Control, and its spread has been linked to both dairy and meat products from the United States as well as Mexico. A slow-growing outbreak of the bacteria has been traced to over 250 confirmed cases of illness and 60 hospitalizations, as well as two deaths.

I’m a frequent guest at InterContinental Hotels Group properties for a number of reasons, most of which revolve around how well the hotel chain takes care of repeat guests. You can sign up for IHG’s free membership program, for example, to access discounted room rates, and the chain’s portfolio is also big enough — it includes Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo and InterContinental hotels — that I can usually find somewhere to stay wherever I go that’s part of the brand.

The chip that will power Huawei’s Mate X will be unveiled before the iPhone 11 launches

%name The chip that will power Huawei’s Mate X will be unveiled before the iPhone 11 launches by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Huawei last year unveiled the Kirin 980 just a few days before Apple launched the iPhone XS series and its 7nm processor. At the time, Huawei made a big deal about launching the first 7nm mobile processor in the world, although it’s Apple’s A12 that was the first one to ship to consumers.

Huawei will follow a similar script this year, with the Kirin 990 processor that will power the Mate 30 Pro and Mate X foldable expected to be announced just a few days ahead of the rumored iPhone 11 launch.
