Another day, another hack. As we referenced yesterday with respect to the Dunkin’ Donuts hack, it seems that we can’t even go a week without a new high-profile security breach making the news. In light of that, a more serious security breach appears to have impacted Marriott. Specifically, the hotel chain today revealed that an unauthorized party accessed its Starwood guest reservation database this past September.

Marriott relays that it first became aware of the breach on September 8th when an internal security tool flagged an attempt by someone aiming to access the aforementioned reservation database. Upon consulting with outside security experts, Marriott ultimately realized that someone had been accessing the database since 2014 and had been copying all sorts of sensitive information.

Instagram is Facebook’s hottest property and on its way to being the social networking giant’s cash cow at this point, so no surprise the app once known primarily as a photo-sharing platform keeps looking for new ways to juice the amount of time users spend inside it. Instagram’s latest move: It’s finally paid attention to the reason why so many people use so-called “Finstagrams,” an Instagram account that’s separate from a user’s main account that has tons of followers while they keep this secondary one private and much smaller in terms of followers. To that end, Instagram is rolling out a new “Close Friends” feature to promote sharing among a smaller and presumably tighter-knit circle of users.

This robot cafe in Tokyo is remotely controlled by disabled staff, and it’s incredible

%name This robot cafe in Tokyo is remotely controlled by disabled staff, and it’s incredible by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Being waited on by robot is something that we all imagine might be possible in the distant future, but one cafe in Tokyo is already offering just that… with a twist. As Fast Company reports, a visit to the “Dawn ver.β” will put you face-to-face with robot waiters that take orders from customers and deliver food to their tables.

It’s all very futuristic, but the twist here is that the robots aren’t powered by AI or some advanced automation system. Instead, they’re controlled remotely by human staff with severe disabilities working right from their own homes. The cafe, which is the result of a partnership between the Nippon Foundation, Ory Lab Inc, and ANA Holdings, is already a big hit, and its creators have big plans for the future.

3 months of unlimited music for $0.99 is the best bargain in streaming

%name 3 months of unlimited music for $0.99 is the best bargain in streaming by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Cyber Week 2018 might be winding down right now, but there are still tons of killer deals to be found. In fact, some of them offer better-than-Black Friday pricing on the most popular products on the planet! You follow the BGR Deals team so you clearly know all that, but there’s one great deal we haven’t covered all week and we could never forgive ourselves if we didn’t mention it at least once. It’s the return of the killer Amazon Music Unlimited deal Amazon was running earlier this year for Prime Day, and it’s by far the best value in streaming.

Amazon Music Unlimited, also known as AMU, is Amazon’s version of Spotify or Apple Music. The company has a huge library of millions of songs that span every genre you can imagine, and that obviously includes all the hot new releases that hit streaming services each week. Amazon Music apps are available on every major platform and you can stream all the music you want with no limits or ads, just like the paid versions of Spotify and Apple Music. AMU typically costs $7.99 a month which is already less than you would pay for Spotify, but if you head to this page on Amazon’s site you can get 3 months of Amazon Music Unlimited for just $0.99 total. Yup, that’s 3 full months of unlimited music streaming for less than a dollar!

Here are the terms and conditions from Amazon’s site:

This is a limited time offer. New subscribers only. The promotional offer of 3 months for $0.99 is a limited time offer and redeemable toward an Amazon Music Unlimited Individual Monthly Plan. Digital content and services may only be available to customers located in the U.S. and are subject to the terms and conditions of Amazon Digital Services LLC. Offer limited to one per customer and account. Amazon reserves the right to modify or cancel the offer at any time. Offer is non-transferable and may not be resold. If you violate any of these terms, the offer will be invalid.

NASA’s director really wants Elon Musk to stop smoking weed in public

%name NASA’s director really wants Elon Musk to stop smoking weed in public by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It was revealed last week that NASA will be conducting an investigation into the company culture of SpaceX after concerns over Elon Musk’s behavior began to grow within NASA’s upper management. NASA has remained relatively silent as far as public statements against Musk’s stunts are concerned but that appears to be changing ever so slightly.

Speaking with reporters, NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine openly criticized Musk and addressed the perceived drama he has been causing. The NASA boss was critical of Musk’s public persona, noting that as head man at SpaceX he is seen as the face of a group that has close ties to NASA itself.

%name One of our favorite Avengers might not die in ‘Avengers 4’ after all by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The first Avengers 4 trailer isn’t here yet, and we have no idea what the movie will be called since the Russo brothers refused to address any questions about the new film during a special Infinity War screening earlier this week. That’s also where we expected the first trailer to drop, but that didn’t happen. That doesn’t mean the Russo brothers have been quiet about the Avengers universe though, with Joe teasing that one of our favorite Avengers, a hero we thought might not make it through Avengers 4, will not die. That said, it’s not all good news, and we have no idea what it all means.

‘Pokemon Go’ is finally getting trainer battles

%name ‘Pokemon Go’ is finally getting trainer battles by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

When Pokemon Go launched in the summer of 2016, it was missing many of the key features that define a Pokemon game. There were no Legendary Pokemon, you couldn’t trade your Pokemon with other trainers, and most egregious of all, you couldn’t battle anyone else directly. Niantic has addressed the first two issues in the months since launch, but it was still unclear when player vs. player battles would be added to the game.

We still don’t have a date yet, but after announcing the feature would be ready before the end of 2018 back in August, the development team confirmed that trainer battles “are coming soon” on Friday morning.
