Recent leaks have suggested that Google’s 2015 Nexus 5 handset will be a lot more affordable than last year’s pricey Nexus 6. While actual pricing details have not been offered by sources familiar with Google’s plans, there have been indications the phone will have sub-flagship specs, which generally means it’ll be friendlier to your wallet just as the original Nexus 5 was back in 2013.

However, a brand-new smartphone announcement made earlier today has given me a pretty good idea of what the new Nexus 5’s pricing structure will be. Why, you ask? Because this new phone has the exact same specs that are rumored for the next Nexus 5.

With rumors that Apple has plans to launch a TV subscription service in early 2016, we’ve now seen reports that the company also has its eyes set on perhaps entering the world of original content.

As we reported yesterday, Apple executive Eddy Cue and members of his team have been meeting with Hollywood executives in an effort to gauge their interest in producing original content. While the seriousness of such discussions remains unclear at the moment, one source told Variety that Apple’s ultimate goal is “to create development and production divisions that would churn out long-form content to stream in a bid to compete with Netflix.”

Say what you will about Google, but the company is most definitely not afraid of change. Last month, the company up and surprised everybody when it announced that it was renaming itself “Alphabet” with a host of varying subsidiaries, of which Google would be the largest.
