It’s a busy day in the tech world today as Microsoft just a few hours ago released Windows 10 in 190 countries. And in case you missed it, the friendly folks in Redmond are making the upgrade to Windows 10 completely free for existing Windows 7 and Windows 8 users. Of course, if you happen to be running Vista or XP, there are ways for you to get Windows 10 for free as well.

Thus far, early reviews of Windows 10 have been overwhelmingly positive as Microsoft seems to have corrected many of the frustrations that plagued Windows 8. Which is to say, if you’re a Windows user, this is an upgrade you’d be well advised to check out as soon as possible.

When was the last time I actually felt excited by a new version of Windows? I think I’d have to go back all the way to Windows 98, which came out at a time when Microsoft completely ruled the computing world and Apple was on death’s doorstep. OK, so I do remember being excited for Windows 8… until I actually started using it. Windows 8.1 offered some much-needed relief but it felt like a transition to Microsoft’s next big thing. All of which brings us to Windows 10.

Windows. 10. Is. Here.

For a while there, it felt as though this day might never come. The world, trapped for an eternity in the nightmare that was Windows 8. But just as Microsoft was the cause of all that ailed us in Windows 8, so too will it be the cure. With Windows 10, Microsoft formally admits that its awful vision of a single interface for tablets and desktop computers alike was just that: Awful.

There is no question that the single most important reason to upgrade your computer to Windows 10 from Windows 8 is to bury the previous-generation operating system forever and never look back. That’s not the only reason, though.

%name How to download and install Windows 10 right now by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Ladies and gentlemen, the wait is over — Windows 10 is finally here. Microsoft on Wednesday began the long, long process of trying to make the world forget all about the disaster that was Windows 8. By all accounts, the company has done a good job so far, not just by skipping 9 and jumping right to 10 for the software’s name, but also by creating a new operating system that actually seems like it was designed to run on a laptop or desktop, rather than just a tablet.

While July 29th marks the start of the Windows 10 rollout, there’s no guarantee that you’ll get the new software today — or even this week — if you sit around and wait for Microsoft’s updater. If you want to be a bit proactive, however, you can download and install the update right now.
