Over the past few years, there has been no shortage of high-profile credit card breaches at some of the largest retailers in the country. From Target to Home Depot, it seems that we can’t go a few months without hearing a story regarding some new worrisome data breach. With respect to Home Depot in particular, it’s estimated that nearly 60 million credit cards were compromised over a 5-month period.

Compounding the problem is that retailers aren’t the only target that hackers have their eyes on. In recent months, hackers have managed to obtain confidential information from targets as varied as the U.S. Government, health insurance providers, and even popular apps like Twitter and Snapchat. Indeed, it can get a bit tiring trying to keep up with what sites have been exposed to security breaches and when.

The NFL on Tuesday announced it was upholding Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s four-game suspension for allegedly being “generally aware” that team staffers were deflating footballs before games in violation of league rules. In its explanation for why it was upholding the suspension, the NFL revealed that Brady had instructed an assistant to destroy his smartphone just when investigators were getting ready to question him about his role in the scandal. Brady has now fired back with an official excuse for trashing his old phone that will certainly give Samsung executives heartburn when they hear about it.

Windows 10 is finally here, and though not shrouded in the same type of pomp and circumstance that surrounded the launch of, say, Windows 95, it’s still a significant update worth checking out. Not only is Windows 10 available as a free update to Windows 7 and Windows 8 users, but the new OS from Microsoft comes with a bevy of interesting new features that are certainly worth exploring.

At the same time, and as with any new OS release, there are a few wrinkles to be ironed out and new privacy issues worth noting.
