Hearthstone is one of my favorite games in years. I complete my daily quests every day of the week, I pore over upcoming cards when Blizzard (finally) announces a new adventure or expansion, and I check HearthPwn on a weekly basis to make sure my decks are up to snuff in an increasingly cutthroat meta.
But as I opened my 31 packs from The Grand Tournament expansion on Monday with the gold I’d been saving up for over two months, I couldn’t help but wonder why Blizzard refuses to give its always-growing player base a chance to catch up.

The manhunt for the man who killed two Virginia WDBJ7 employees on the air earlier this morning has come to an end. Police are now saying that Vester Lee Flanagan, formerly a news reporter at the above station, turned the gun on himself as the authorities were closing in on his location. Despite some conflicting reports, ABC News is reporting that he is not dead but is in very critical condition.

To be perfectly frank, battery technology is infuriating. Think about how different the world would be if improvements to battery tech progressed as quickly as other areas. Unfortunately… science.
It’s annoying that we even have to think about battery life as often as we do, but the fact of the matter is if we spend some time making a few key tweaks and optimizing things, it can have a significant impact on battery performance in our laptops and smartphones.

Coin was the first company to announce a smart card solution capable of replacing all of the credit cards in your wallet with a single device that could securely store account data and switch between accounts on the fly. The company attracted a huge amount of attention from the media and raised millions through a crowdfunding campaign, but then things took a turn. Coin ran into manufacturing issues and missed its target launch date, angering would-be early adopters in the process.
Now, Coin is looking to make amends in two key ways. First, the company is preparing to launch a new second-generation smart card with new features never seen before in any rival offerings. Second, and most importantly, Coin will provide its new and improved card to all current Coin customers free of charge.

Android’s notification system is pretty great. In fact, it’s so great that Apple “borrowed” a number of key features when it revamped its own iOS notification system a few years ago. Smartphone platform companies “borrow” from each other all the time of course, and it’s easy to see why Android was the inspiration for Apple’s current notification system in iOS.
But as great as Android notifications are, there’s clearly room for improvement.

A horrific tragedy struck Virginia earlier today when a gunman, presumed to be a disgruntled employee, shot two WDBJ7 employees live on the air. The two victims are Alison Parker (age 24) who was the station’s news reporter and Adam Ward (age 27) who was the station’s cameraman.
“Law enforcement personnel have a photo of the suspect,” Governor Terry McAuliffe said in the shooting’s aftermath. “We believe it’s a disgruntled employee of the station, and they’re in pursuit.”
Subsequently, authorities found the alleged suspect’s vehicle unattended at the Roanoke Airport.
The most recent update has pegged former station employee Vester Lee Flanagan as the suspect. On air, Flanagan reported under the name Bryce Williams. According to WTVR, Flanagan had been fired from the station, though that news hadn’t yet been made public.
Shockingly, Flanagan posted first-hand video footage of the shooting online, both to his Twitter and Facebook accounts.
The Daily Beast adds:
In the tweets, Flanagan hinted at possible motives for the shooting. He tweeted about filing an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint and alleged that the reporter had made racist comments. “They hired her after that???” he tweeted. The slain producer, he claimed, complained to HR about him after working together one time. His final text tweet boasted about filming the attack.
Both accounts have since been suspended but a Google cached version his Twitter account (with no link to the video, we can assure you) can be seen below.
As it stands now on, Flanagan is still on the run and is wanted for murder.
UPDATE: The latest report is that Flanagan has since killed himself.
According to The Daily Beast: “At 11:37 a.m., police said over the radio to disregard the search for Flanagan, who is believed to be dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
