Super Mario Maker review: Building blocks

%name Super Mario Maker review: Building blocks by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

I’ve never aspired to design games.

I love to play games, write about games and talk about games, but I also know that I lack the skills necessary to build one myself. I’m in awe of the studios that do manage to ship a complete, working product, even if it doesn’t turn out exactly as they originally intended, because I know the insane amount of time and resources that are dedicated to game production.

For all of these reasons (and probably a few more), I’ve never been able to fully invest myself into a game that relies on me to provide user-generated content.

Super Mario Maker is the first.

Toshiba has a crazy Retina MacBook killer: 4K 12.5-inch display, USB-C and Windows 10

Apple’s 12-inch Retina MacBook is a head-turner, in spite of its perceived lack of performance (and perceived lack of ports). The ultra-portable laptop comes with a high-resolution display that’s even better than the MacBook Air’s screen. The brand new design, made possible by Intel’s increasingly smaller and more power-efficient chips, inspired other companies to come up with similar creations, and Toshiba just unveiled an impressive new Retina MacBook killer.

In the late morning on September 1st, Google unveiled a brand new logo that replaces the company’s iconic multicolored typeface with… a new iconic multicolored typeface. This marks the fifth major redesign of Google’s logo since the company first launched its game-changing search engine in the late 1990s. The new logo has an updated look with a font that is much harder and more modern than the previous font, but it’s softened by the customary tilted “e” at the end.

Here’s what it looks like compared to the previous logo:

So long, Surface: Lenovo’s Surface Pro clone is the Windows hybrid we’ve been waiting for

%name So long, Surface: Lenovo’s Surface Pro clone is the Windows hybrid we’ve been waiting for by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

When Microsoft went up against its own Windows hardware partners and launched the Surface line of laptop/tablet hybrids, pundits weren’t sure what to make of the move. The hardware was much more sleek and attractive than anything else on the market at the time, and many initially thought the move was merely an effort to encourage Windows PC makers to step up their game. Of course, anyone who is even the least bit familiar with the amount of work involved with bringing a new product like this to market knew that notion was ridiculous: As of the moment that the first Surface tablets debuted, Microsoft officially became a PC vendor.

The Surface line has since grown into a more respectable business for Microsoft thanks to the lineup’s iconic design that’s portable yet perfect for productivity. Now, however, Lenovo has unveiled a device that is essentially a clone of Microsoft’s latest Surface tablets, but it is significantly more affordable.
