For Apple loyalists, the mere thought of dumping the iPhone and switching to Android is enough to send shivers down your spine. For Android fans, the idea of using an iPhone in the first place is an awful one. Enthusiasts on either side of the fence seem incapable of imagining life in the other group’s shoes, and online battles between Apple users and Android users erupt constantly. But do things really have to be this intense?

In a new video posted by the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Franken makes his case that the FCC’s controversial plan could hinder future innovation and consumer choice by giving big incumbent companies a permanent competitive advantage over up-and-coming startups.

REVIEW — Huawei Ascend P7: Android’s iPhone

Love it or hate it, there’s no question that Apple’s iPhone lineup brings some things to the table that rival devices do not. Specifically, Apple’s designs and its attention to detail are completely unmatched. There are some Android phones with gorgeous designs and there are some with sleek software enhancements, but none offer the total package that Apple’s iPhone affords.

It stands to reason, then, that rival companies would copy the iPhone in some ways. There is nothing wrong with that of course, and Apple has copied various things from other companies as well. The iOS Notification Center was inspired by Android, Apple’s new app switcher interface in iOS 7 is a blatant webOS ripoff, and the company’s iPhone 4, 4S, 5 and 5s all bear a striking resemblance to an LG smartphone that debuted in 2006.

It’s the nature of the beast.

Of course, many Android phone makers take inspiration from different aspects of Apple’s iPhone — not just Samsung. Try as they might, however, no other company has been able to offer an end-to-end user experience that even approaches the iPhone.

Until now, perhaps.

However, Samsung told Bloomberg that it will still appeal the case, looking to further reduce the amount all the way down to zero if possible.

It has all the makings of a terrible early-’80s frat comedy: A college kid receives an expensive aerial drone in the mail and hilarity ensues involving drone-assisted beer runs and raids of girls’ dorm rooms. Amazingly, Motherboard reports that something very similar actually happened recently when a college student in the Boston area accidentally received parts of a $350,000 aerial drone in the mail and posted pictures of it on Reddit. Motherboard confirmed that the drone is actually the property of the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the agency has told the publication that it’s not sure exactly how the drone wound up in the student’s mailbox.
