After posting its bending videos, Samsung continues its Galaxy Note 4 pre-launch promotion with a new video on YouTube that’s supposed to highlight the increased durability of the upcoming phablet. Unsurprisingly, Samsung’s drop test results suggest the Galaxy Note 4 can withstand drops from various heights without suffering any real damage — though don’t expect the back case to stay on during all drops.

GT Advanced Technologies’ unexpected Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing might spell trouble for Apple’s iPhone-related sapphire plans, KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo said in a note to customers seen by AppleInsider. The analyst, who accurately predicted many details about unreleased Apple products in the past, says GTAT’s problems won’t affect Apple’s Apple Watch production plans, but that they may impact Apple’s future iPhone production plans.

Apple’s own NFC-enabled payment product isn’t yet available to consumers, as it will be enabled later in October on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus following an iOS 8 update, but it’s already seen as the “player to beat,” by Morgan Stanley. NVIDIA on Monday announced that the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has voted to investigate whether certain Samsung devices, targeted in a recent NVIDIA suit against the South Korean giant and Qualcomm, should be banned from sales in the U.S. or not.

Now that Samsung, Motorola, LG and Apple have all made their wearable plans clear, only one major mobile vendor remains: HTC. There have been reports floating around since last winter claiming that HTC would be unveiling a smartwatch of its own before the end of the year, but as recently as last month, sources began to come forward saying that the plans had been scrapped.
