There are about a million different solutions out there for people who have trouble sleeping, but most of them aren’t really solutions at all. Even the ones that work for some people won’t work for everyone, which is why it’s so important to try different things. I recently gave the Adaptive Sound Technologies LectroFan Evo Sound Machine a shot, and I was surprised to find that it really does help me sleep better! It features 22 different sounds like the ocean, fans, and white noise, and they don’t loop so there’s no audio break to disrupt your sleep. It normally sells for $60, but it’s on sale on Amazon for one day only at its lowest price ever, just $39.

Adaptive Sound Technologies LectroFan Evo White Noise Sound Machine with 22 Unique Non-Looping…: $38.97

Here’s what you need to know from the product page:

  • Provides ten fan sounds, ten white, pink and brown noise variations, and two varieties of ocean sounds — calm, and surf.
  • Helps mask disruptive environmental noises so you can fall asleep with ease
  • Safe, solid-state design is powered by AC or USB and dynamically creates unique, non-repeating sounds with no moving parts
  • Precise volume control, an optional timer, and a 3.5mm connector for headphones or a portable speaker to match your environment and sleep style
  • Also ideal for creating a disturbance-free work area, or just reducing the distracting effects of outside noises for a more relaxing environment, day or night

If you need to get in touch fast with someone who falls in the millennial demographic category, you’re probably aware that you’ve got tons of communications options to choose from. Anything from email to Snapchat, iMessage, Instagram and the like. Younger generations of consumers practically live on their mobile devices.

Try to reach a millennial with a phone call, though, and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that you’ll likely be met with crickets. Millennials may live on their smartphones, but they despise using those devices to do the very thing they were first invented for — to actually talk (verbally) with other people.

%name China angrily denounces the arrest of Huawei’s CFO, calls the US a ‘despicable rogue’ by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Two state-run media outlets in China have come out with blistering attacks on the US related to the arrest in recent days of Huawei’s CFO Meng Wanzhou, who faces extradition here, saying the arrest is just a backdoor way for the US to try to hobble the company.

The arrest happened on December 1st, the same day President Trump met with Chinese president Xi Jinping in Argentina to discuss the continuing trade flap between the two countries, and the new editorials certainly ramp up the tension even more between the two countries.

Here’s what wind sounds like on Mars

%name Here’s what wind sounds like on Mars by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

One of the coolest things about NASA’s new InSight lander that recently arrived on Mars is that it’ll be able to listen closely to sounds generated deep underground. It has the potential to teach us a lot about how Mars works. Before that happens, NASA has to prepare the robot to begin using its powerful instruments. and in doing so the Jet Propulsion Laboratory actually captured the sounds of wind whipping across the dusty Martian surface.

In a new video, JPL explains that InSight’s onboard seismometer began to detect vibrations. The team ultimately determined that the vibrations were the result of wind hitting the robot’s solar panel array and causing them to shake. NASA recorded the vibrations and now you can listen to them yourself.

The Apple Watch’s new ECG app is already saving lives

%name The Apple Watch’s new ECG app is already saving lives by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

After a little bit of a delay, Apple yesterday finally released its long-awaited ECG app for the Apple Watch Series 4. As the name implies, the new app provides users with a relatively convenient way to take an electrocardiogram on their wrist and, in turn, stay abreast of any irregular heart rhythms that might require a visit to the doctor.

Not even a day since its release, the new ECG app has already helped one Apple Watch wearer avoid a potentially serious health event. In a post published on the Apple Watch subreddit earlier today, an Apple Watch wearer fired up the ECG app out of sheer curiosity. The app subsequently alerted him that he had signs of atrial fibrillation, which is to say his heart beat was irregular. Assuming it was a glitch, he ran the app again, and then again on his wife to make sure it wasn’t recording false positives. Eventually, he decided to seek medical attention.

If you’re ranking the TV shows and movies that comprise Netflix’s voluminous streaming library by what people spend the most time watching more than anything else, there is a clear winner. According to NBC executives who’ve reportedly been told this by Netflix, people spend the most viewing hours watching a certain mockumentary about a paper supply company office in Pennsylvania led by a bumbling HR nightmare of a regional manager.
