Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus might be a better all-around product — and it will definitely sell far more units — but as we said in our recent review, the brand new Galaxy Note 4 is the best phablet in the world. The device is without question the most sleek and solid smartphone Samsung has ever made, and its massive quad HD display is positively gorgeous. What’s more, the Note 4 actually makes use of that giant display with awesome multitasking features and the S Pen stylus, rather than just making “big screen” a check box, as it is on the iPhone 6 Plus.

The wait has seemed like an eternity thanks to months of rumors leading up to the Galaxy Note 4’s launch, but it’s finally over: Samsung’s new Note goes on sale in the United States beginning today.

Google finally announced Android 5.0 Lollipop earlier this week alongside new Nexus-branded devices, but the company did not actually say when the Lollipop update will be available to download. All Google said was that a new Lollipop preview version will be made available to developers on October 17th, with the final release supposed to hit in the coming weeks. The company also confirmed that all 2012 and 2013 Nexus devices will be updated to Lollipop, including the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (both generations), and Nexus 10, but it looks like the update won’t be released at the same time for all supported smartphones and tablets.

Tim Cook made it clear in interviews and in an open letter to consumers that for Apple, you aren’t the product. However, even if Apple is trying to offer users enhanced privacy-guarding features, it’s also trying to improve its faltering ad business, Digiday has learned.

As we’ve discussed repeatedly over the past several months, the PlayStation 4 has been lagging behind the Xbox One in a major way when it comes to software updates. Microsoft’s monthly updates have given Xbox One owners a lot to look forward to while PS4 owners wait patiently for Sony catch up. It’s taken a bit longer than I would have liked, but the PlayStation team plans to take care of all the PS4’s issues in one fell swoop with system software 2.00.
