The Apple Watch’s fitness advantages explained
One of the key selling points of the Apple Watch is its ability to not only monitor your activity, but to promote a healthier lifestyle as well. Granted, the Apple Watch isn’t as functional as some dedicated fitness trackers you’ll find out on the market, but creating an all-knowing fitness device wasn’t what Apple set out to do.
Delving into the whole notion of the Apple Watch as a health advisor on your wrist, Outside recently sat down for a wide-ranging interview with Jay Blahnik, the fitness expert Apple hired to oversee the health aspects of Apple’s wearable.

Android’s latest security mess will get worse before it gets better
Late last month, security researcher Joshua Drake informed the world about an Android exploit known as Stagefright. Google was informed about the vulnerability months in advance, but this was the first time the public was hearing about a security hole that could theoretically affect 95% of all the Android devices in the world.
On Wednesday, Google teamed up with its Android partners on order to announce a fix that would be distributed to vulnerable devices, but as Ron Amadeo of Ars Technica points out, the update is only going to be available to a sliver of the Android community.

Meet WalkCar, a new transportation device even cooler than Lexus’s hoverboard
Earlier this week, Lexus proved that it can make a real hoverboard, but it comes with a major catch: We don’t have the streets that can actually make magnetic levitation possible. But even if Lexus’s hoverboards could be used everywhere, there’s now a sleeker, smaller device called the WalkCar that can drive you to work and then hide in your backpack while you charge it near your desk.

New York lawyer pulls a Tyrion Lannister, demands a trial by combat
Luckily for us, life on Earth isn’t governed by Game of Thrones-style laws anymore, but some people still think otherwise. One Staten Island lawyer has gone ahead and asked for a trial by combat in a lawsuit in which he and his firm happen to be co-defendants. This isn’t a joke, it really happened.

Samsung wouldn’t really do this… would they?
We know that Samsung likes to get… creative… with its hardware designs at times. This can be both a good and bad thing, as the company’s wild experiments have yielded successes like the Galaxy S6 edge but also what-were-they-thinking flops like the Galaxy Round. Longtime gadget leaker @evleaks on Friday posted a picture of what appears to be a Typo-style keyboard attachment that he hints will launch alongside the Galaxy S6 edge+ next weeks.

Windows 10 downloads surge to nearly 27 million
As the best version of Windows we’ve seen in years, it should come as no surprise that consumers are downloading and installing Windows 10 in large numbers. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that upgrading to Windows 10 is free for both Windows 7 and Windows 8 users, but that’s a topic for another story.

Iovine drops hints about Apple’s secret weapon in the TV streaming wars
While Apple Music and Spotify ostensibly provide the same service, the music curation on Apple Music truly sets Apple’s streaming music service apart from its Swedish rival. Underscoring Apple’s commitment to curated content, legendary music executive and current Apple employee Jimmy Iovine said recently that Apple hired the best music minded folks it could find to keep Apple Music buzzing. “We hired the best people we know,” Iovine said. “Hired hundreds of them.”
With rumors of an Apple TV service swirling about, it’s only natural to wonder if Apple might try to extend its love affair with curation into the TV realm.

Aaron Sorkin’s awful-looking Steve Jobs movie has a new trailer
I try not to judge a book by its cover, but the more I see of the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic, the less I want to see it. Steve Jobs was a fascinating, brilliant, volatile leader in the industry, but with three films about the man all releasing within three years of one another, I think we might finally be oversaturated.

It looks like we’re stuck with Affleck as Batman for at least three more movies
In order to compete with the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, DC is hosting an explosive event of its own next year by pitting two heroes against each other in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This is the film that will open up DC’s own movie universe, but going forward, Batman may play an even larger role than we’d previously assumed.
