It wasn’t long ago that astronomers detected the presence of what was then considered the most distant object in our solar system. The object, called 2018 VG18, was given the fitting nickname of “FarOut” by the researchers that discovered it.

Unfortunately, the thing about naming space objects is that eventually someone will find one that is bigger, faster, or in this case more distant than the previous record-holder. That’s exactly what just happened to FarOut, which is now the second most distant object in the system, and the new record holder needed a catchy nickname, too. It’s called FarFarOut.

For many people, smartphone wallpapers are a big deal, and I have plenty of emails to prove it. Most of them want download links for a phone wallpaper they saw on BGR, but there’s always the rare criticism for the same images. As a person who has been rocking the same wallpaper for a number of years, both for the lock and home screens, I’m rarely impressed by new wallpapers. But I’ll tell you right away that the Galaxy S10 series will get the best wallpapers in the world and I already want them. However, these wallpapers will only work on the Galaxy S10.

“The battery is durable and the appearance is good, with the most precious Chinese chip! Ranking first in the phone world, Huawei strives for innovation!”

No, that’s not ad copy or some kind of marketing message for Chinese smartphone maker Huawei. Rather, those are lyrics translated into English from the song Huawei the Beautiful, which you can watch a group of cute kids perform in the video clip above that blew up on Chinese social media yesterday.

Do foldable phones represent the future of smartphone computing? It’s certainly starting to look that way. Over the past few days, we’ve seen intriguing new foldable smartphone designs from both Samsung and Huawei. Samsung, of course, has the Galaxy Fold and Huawei has the Mate X. Both devices are wildly expensive and, if we’re being honest, seem more like prototype devices than polished products. Nonetheless, there’s a case to be made that foldable phones may represent the next frontier for smartphone innovation.

And where does Apple stand on all of this? Well, per usual, the company is still sitting on the sidelines; though that’s not to say the company isn’t busy exploring all sorts of interesting new ideas in the realm of foldable phones.

Imaging the possibility of life one existing on the surface of Mars got a whole lot easier once scientists realized the planet was once covered in water, but exactly what mechanics impacted the water on ancient Mars is still largely a mystery. A new research effort using data from ESA’s Mars Express spacecraft is shedding some new light on Martian water systems, and it could impact humanity’s search for life on the Red Planet.

The work, which was published in the Journal of Geophysical Research, reveals the existence of an ancient groundwater system on Mars that would have fed lakes and other large bodies of water.

When DC decided to follow Marvel with an interconnected cinematic universe of its own, there seemed to be equal parts trepidation and anticipation from movie fans. Financially, the DC Extended Universe has been a success from the jump, but the critical reaction to the first several movies Warner Bros. and DC put out was less than effusive, to say the least. And yet, after taking its lumps, the DCEU seems to have made a nice recovery.

So how did that happen? After Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad got roasted by critics, how did the upstart movie universe get back on the right track? According to Kevin Tsujihara, CEO of Warner Bros., it was all about bringing in the right people, and moving away from what has made Marvel so successful.

5G raises serious privacy concerns, according to computer science professor

With carriers pretty much tripping over themselves to rush out 5G smartphones, with some even saying the devices support 5G when they actually don’t, it’s important to keep in mind the unfortunate reality that we’ve still got a long way to go before carriers expand 5G coverage enough that most people will be able to take advantage of it.

Yes, plenty of 5G phone are being prepped for launch, but according to one computer science professor, all that hype around the blazing fast speeds these devices will provide has actually obscured two important privacy concerns raised by the new technology.

We’re rapidly approaching the launch of SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft, and NASA seems to be just as excited as the rest of us. The test launch, which is scheduled to take place early Saturday morning, will be a big deal for NASA and SpaceX regardless of the outcome, but it goes without saying that both groups have their fingers crossed for success.

Now, as the hours continue to tick down, NASA has published a lovely little video showing off what the interior of the Crew Dragon looks like. The video, which is less than a minute long, shows exactly where astronauts will eventually be sitting as they head into space.
