Every free NES game added to Nintendo Switch Online in January 2019

Back when Nintendo launched the Switch Online service last year, it simultaneously laid out the first few months of free NES games that would be given to all subscribers. In addition to the twenty games available at launch, Nintendo added nine more games before the end of 2018 (in addition to a few surprises), but there was no indication as to what the company would have in store for the future of the paid service.

Thankfully, we didn’t have to wait too long, as Nintendo shared a video on Tuesday revealing the next batch of NES games that will be free to download starting in January. It’s the shortest list yet, which is somewhat discouraging, but at least both titles are solid additions to the growing catalog of classic Nintendo games.

During an interview with CNBC yesterday, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that Apple’s biggest contribution to the world will ultimately be in the realm of healthcare.

“If you zoom out into the future, and you look back, and you ask the question, ‘What was Apple’s greatest contribution to mankind?’ It will be about health. Because our business has always been about enriching people’s lives,” Cook said. “And as we’ve gotten into healthcare more and more through the Watch and through other things that we’ve created with ResearchKit and CareKit and putting your medical records on the iPhone, this is a huge deal.”

Scientists just detected another repeating radio signal in deep space

As technology improves and instruments used to study the cosmos become more and more advanced, we’re answering a lot of questions about our place in the universe, but we’re also coming up with entirely new ones.

One of the most mysterious phenomena that scientist have observed are called fast radio bursts (FRBs), which are brief blasts of energy detected by radio telescopes and seem to be coming from far-away locations in space that we can’t even see. Now, a new FRB is getting some serious attention for a very specific reason.

The Impossible Burger 2.0 goes head-to-head with Shake Shack

%name The Impossible Burger 2.0 goes head to head with Shake Shack by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The battle of the burgers is upon us. Over the past few years, the number of boutique burger shops has exploded across the country, giving meat-hungry Americans a seemingly endless number of burger options to clog their arteries. From Five Guys and Shack Shack to regional favorites like Whataburger, it’s certainly nice to have a few tasty options outside the realm of McDonald’s.

Interestingly enough, the burger landscape has recently been infiltrated by lab-designed veggie burgers engineered to mimic the texture and taste of actual meat. The most popular incarnation of this is called the Impossible Burger. Originally launched in 2016, the Impossible Burger was for a short time only available in select cities across the world. Flash forward to 2019 and the Impossible Burger is easy to find, even at traditional meat-heavy restaurants.

T-Mobile added a record number of subscribers in its best quarter ever

%name T Mobile added a record number of subscribers in its best quarter ever by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

T-Mobile absolutely crushed it over the holidays, with the wireless carrier announcing a record 2.4 million net customer additions in the fourth quarter and 7 million for all of 2018. Those additions, which pushed the total customer count to almost 80 million, helped T-Mobile produce its best quarterly results ever, the company announced Wednesday afternoon.

What’s more, the three-month period that ended in December also marked the Un-carrier’s 23rd straight quarter of net customer additions totaling more than 1 million, with the nearly 80 million customer base itself up from 46 million back in 2013.

The iPhone XR is hardly the flop you’ve been led to believe

%name The iPhone XR is hardly the flop you’ve been led to believe by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It’s hard to know just what exactly is going on with Apple’s iPhone XR. While early reports claimed that the device wasn’t selling as briskly as Apple anticipated, Apple has since mentioned on a few occasions that the iPhone XR has been the best-selling iPhone model every single day since its release. In light of that, all of the arguments claiming that the iPhone XR is an utter flop seem to be a bit over the top, if not completely off the mark. There is, after all, a difference between a device that is selling slightly below expectations and a device that is barely selling at all.

It’s also worth noting that Tim Cook last week disclosed that Apple’s revised guidance for the holiday quarter was completely attributable to a revenue shortfall in Greater China. In other words, it’s entirely possible that the iPhone XR is selling as expected everywhere else but is not doing well in China due to a variety of factors. All that said, some recently released data from Mixpanel, along with some remarks from Tim Cook earlier in the week, suggest that the iPhone XR isn’t necessarily the disappointment some are making it out to be.

Watch SpaceX’s ship narrowly miss the mark in nosecone catch test

%name Watch SpaceX’s ship narrowly miss the mark in nosecone catch test by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

SpaceX is already the worldwide leader in reusable rocket technology, having demonstrated its capability to launch and reuse rockets several times over in the name of cost savings and convenience. However, the company is still trying to perfect its technique when it comes to catching the potentially reusable nosecones that sit on the top of its fancy rockets, and it’s still running into snags.

In a new video of a recent test, SpaceX’s “Mr. Steven” net-equipped ship is seen attempting to snag a nosecone fairing dropped from a helicopter. As you’ll see from the footage, it’s not nearly as easy as it might sound.

SanDisk made a 4TB flash drive that fits in your pocket

Last year, SanDisk unveiled a 1TB USB-C flash drive at CES 2018, although that prototype was never turned into a commercial product. A year later, the company showed off a slightly bulkier 4TB USB-C flash drive at CES 2019, but it’s still small enough to fit in your pocket… if it ever sees the light of day, that is.

Tesla’s Model 3 was the top-selling luxury vehicle in 2018

%name Tesla’s Model 3 was the top selling luxury vehicle in 2018 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Without question, 2018 was a watershed year for Tesla. Despite the ongoing antics of Elon Musk and his entanglements with the SEC, Tesla in 2018 finally managed to turn a quarterly profit for the first time in company history. What’s more, Tesla in a press release a few days ago revealed that the company almost delivered more vehicles in 2018 (245,240 to be exact) than it did “in all prior years combined.”

Of course, Tesla’s Model 3 played an instrumental role in helping the company reach new milestones over the past 12 months. And speaking to the ongoing popularity of Tesla’s mass market EV, the Model 3 was actually the best-selling luxury vehicle across both cars and SUVs in 2018.
