Well that was fast… Apple just released iOS 8 to the public last week and on Wednesday, just one week since the new software’s initial release, Apple has issued its first update. iOS 8.0.1 is available immediately on all compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models as an over the air (OTA) update or as a download through iTunes.

The iPhone 6, and especially the iPhone 6 Plus, failed an unexpected durability test – the new phones can apparently bend to some degree when inside pants pockets – and a video showing this surprising result going viral on YouTube. Even so, the bent iPhone 6 units did not break and were still fully functional. However, while there are many reasons to praise Apple’s smartphone design over competitors, the fact that a brand new, expensive, iPhone made of metal can bend in such circumstances, as many male smartphone users are likely carrying their handsets in their pants pockets, and still work after that isn’t really one of them.

GoPro cameras allow people to record high-quality video in ways that were never before possible, and some of the most incredible examples of GoPro footage we’ve seen thus far has involved extreme sports and other dangerous situations. Danger isn’t always necessary to wow us when it comes to GoPro videos, however, and a new video posted to YouTube on Monday by GoPro is a perfect example.

My thoughts on large phones have been known since the beginning, and that’s why I wanted to review the iPhone 6 Plus instead of the iPhone 6. If there’s a device that could get me to reconsider how I view 5-inch plus-sized devices, it would be the iPhone 6 Plus. It’s the same phone as the iPhone 6, just a little bit larger. One of the dumbest criticisms that Apple haters lob at the iPhone is that Apple has essentially released the same device over and over again for the past seven years. Even a passing glance at the design changes between the devices reveals huge differences, not to mention the constant improvements to the device that Apple has made with both its software and internal hardware. To take just one example of the iPhone’s constant improvement over the years, consider this terrifically detailed comparison produced by Camera+ and MagiCam cofounder Lisa Bettany that shows pictures taken with every single major iPhone model released so far.

BGR published our review of the hotly anticipated iPhone 6 on Tuesday and in it, we touched on a number of broader topics outside of what one might typically find in a device review. Among them, we noted that when it comes to Apple’s mobile devices, many conventional things that typically influence consumers’ purchasing decisions carry little or no weight.
What does have a huge influence on iPhone sales, however, is advertising — but even there, Apple always does things a little differently. And in its newest ad, Apple shows us that it’s clearly convinced the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will sell themselves.

After an “unofficial” blend test for the iPhone 6 Plus that hit YouTube a few days ago, the official gadget blenders have finally performed their own such silly test, but with a twist, posting the resulting video also on YouTube. Blendtec took an iPhone 6 Plus and a 2013 Galaxy Note 3 to simultaneously test them in its regular blend test.

Shots have just been fired. During his big media presentation on Wednesday, BlackBerry CEO John Chen made reference to videos that showed how easy it can be to bend the iPhone 6 Plus and pledged that you will not be able to bend the new BlackBerry Passport no matter how hard you try.
