Apple delayed the launch of HealthKit apps when it released iOS 8, even though Health is one of the main features of this year’s iOS update. The company then released iOS 8.0.1, which should have fixed HealthKit problems and allowed app developers to update their apps with HealthKit integration, but the update was quickly pulled as it was found to cause serious problems for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users.

The HTC One (M8) is one of the best smartphones we’ve reviewed this year but there was one thing about it we found particularly disappointing — namely, the quality of its camera, which can’t hold a candle to the cameras on rival flagship devices such as the iPhone 6 and the Galaxy S5. However, a new report from Android Police claims that HTC is about to fix that with a new smartphone set to be unveiled next month that will feature a 13-megapixel Duo Camera.

“The iPhone 6 Plus may bend in your pocket,” Opower’s Barry Fischer wrote in a blog post on Thursday, “but it won’t bend your energy bill higher.” We’ll forgive him for that one-liner, though, because it was written alongside a very interesting post that shares the results of Opower’s study examining how much it costs to charge the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus regularly for a year. Neither phone has class-leading battery life, and all that charging must add up, right?

It’s likely hard to assign fault for a botched software update to one person in a company as big as Apple, but a Bloomberg report seems to indicate that one of the same people responsible for the flawed 2012 Apple Maps rollout is also involved with the iOS 8.0.1 update that bricked iPhone 6 models earlier this week.

If there’s one thing Apple seems to have nailed down as well as anyone else in the industry, it’s how to make an introduction. We still have plenty of questions about the practicality of the Apple Watch, but very few of us doubt that Apple is going to find a way to sell its first wearable device when it launches next year. Apple was quick to issue a fix for its botched iOS 8.0.1 release that bricked iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models, as the company rolled out iOS 8.0.2 on Thursday night. The latest update seems to have fixed most iOS 8.0.1 problems, enabling HealthKit apps in the process, but it looks like not all of the major issues in iOS 8.0.1 are gone.

Although there’s been a lot of coverage this week on whether or not the iPhone 6 Plus bends too much, we should recall that this isn’t the first time Apple has been hit with a “scandal” after the launch of a new flagship device. Last Friday, we covered the first in a six-part series where CNET’s respected product reviewer Tim Stevens began the painful process of trying to decide whether or not to ditch his beloved Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and switch to Apple’s new iPhone 6 Plus phablet instead. Stevens explained how fond he has grown of his Galaxy Note 3 over time, and detailed many of the reasons why. The stylus and related software suite are big pluses, according to his column, and the phone’s excellent battery life is one of the things that drew him to the Note 3 in the first place.
Apple’s new iPhone Plus doesn’t ship with a stylus and its battery doesn’t last quite as long as the one in the Galaxy Note 3, but did it still manage to win Stevens’s heart?
