This should obviously go without saying, but do not try this at home… or anywhere else, for that matter. 19-year-old Russian daredevil photographer Alexander Remnev has made a habit of scaling tall buildings and other structures in an effort to capture captivating photos and videos, and a skyscraper in Hong Kong is the site of his latest conquest.

Along with two of his friends, Remnov recently made it to the top of The Centre tower in Hong Kong, and he has the terrifying video footage to prove it.

Whether or not you believe Apple has plans to enter the car business, it’s getting increasingly hard to ignore the vast number of notable auto-related hires the company has made in recent months. Indeed, we recently reported that Apple now finds itself subject to a lawsuit for poaching 5 Ph.D scientists from A123 Systems, a company specializing in advanced car battery technologies.

And just last week, the Financial Times reported that Apple recently hired Johann Jungwirth, the former CEO and President of Mercedes-Benz’s Research and Development wing. What’s more, a recent report from The Wall Street Journal indicated that Apple now has hundreds of employees working on an electric car initiative.

Windows 8 was definitely a polarizing operating system, which is why Microsoft is making some big changes for Windows 10 that are designed to appeal more to traditional desktop users. ZDNet’s Ed Bott has a terrific rundown of some of the major Windows 8 features that Microsoft decided to scrap for Windows 10 along with the company’s reasons for dumping each one.

‘The Order: 1886′ review: Tale as old as time

%name ‘The Order: 1886′ review: Tale as old as time by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

This is the most difficult game review I’ve ever had to write. Not because I lost a few of my fingers or because I don’t want to upset anyone, but because I’m not entirely sure what I’m reviewing.

The Order: 1886 is more of an interactive television series than it is a video game. This is what I had come to assume after previewing the game multiple times before launch, but I was still taken aback by just how much of this game didn’t require any input on my part. Entire chapters would whisk by without me ever having to pick up my controller.

Has Jony Ive found a new way to abdicate his responsibility as a designer?

I don’t mean to pick on Jony Ive but… actually, yes, I do mean to pick on Jony Ive. Earlier this week I wrote about Ive’s utterly ridiculous criticism of Motorola in which he slammed the company for letting its customers customize their Moto X phones through the Moto Maker service. This program was apparently so repulsive to Sir Jony’s sensibilities that he went so far as to accuse Motorola of “abdicating” their responsibilities as designers. Now a new report from Cult of Mac shows that Ive’s criticism is even more boneheaded than I originally thought.

Apple’s introduction of widget support in iOS 8 came as a surprise to some people, but it still wasn’t the true widget support many power iPhone users had been clamoring for. Instead of allowing developers to build widgets that might provide zero-touch access to information on the home screen, Apple added a widget section to the Today tab in Notification Center. It’s a compromise that added widgets to iOS without harming battery life, though iOS widgets aren’t quite as useful as widgets on other platforms like Android.

Every once in a while, however, we come across a very cool widget that makes iOS 8 seem like new all over again.

Earlier this week, our resident Boy Genius did some back-of-the-envelope calculations about how much money Apple could make with the upcoming Apple Watch, with a particular focus on the high-end 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition. Now well-connected Apple blogger John Gruber has done some estimates of his own and he writes that Apple stands to make $20 billion a year on the Edition version of the Apple Watch if the company manages to sell 1 million copies of it per quarter at an average sales price of $5,000 each.

Yesterday’s list of eight paid iPhone and iPad apps was a solid one indeed, and several of them are still free downloads if you hurry over to that post. Today, however, we have what is hands down our best list of the week. It only has seven apps on it, but they’re all terrific and normally they would cost you a combined $66 to download.

For a short time, however, each and every one can be had for free.

On Wednesday, Game of Thrones fans got some huge news that everyone is still talking about. According to George R.R. No one is safe, and now fans who read the books will have to be on the lookout for huge twists and turns around every corner.
