Windows Phone users haven’t had a lot to brag about lately, but they’re about to get something that will make Android users positively jealous. ZDNet reports that Microsoft is taking over the update process for Windows Phones from carriers starting with Windows 10 this fall, which means Windows Phone users will no longer have to wait for months on end to get the newest software.

After years of anticipation, Apple released the Apple Watch in April, but now that it’s out, we’re already anxious to hear what’s next. On Monday, 9to5Mac shared information it received from an unnamed source which indicates that the first major software and hardware updates are currently in the works.

Back in 2012, the entire tech world was captivated by Apple and Samsung’s patent trial. One of the things that made the trial so interesting is that it lifted the veil of secrecy that typically shrouds Apple’s operations, providing us with unprecedented access to the company’s development process, market research methodology, and even photos of unreleased iPhone prototypes.
As for the merits of the case itself, Apple would ultimately emerge victorious, with a jury awarding Apple $930 million in damages. But as with any court ruling, especially one with nearly a billion dollars on the line, Samsung has busied itself with filing all sorts of appeals looking to have the ruling overturned, or at the very least, the damages amount reduced.

All big companies spin the truth in ridiculous ways, but every once in a while a company will try to distort reality in such a way that you just have to tip your cap in awe. Such was the case this week when AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson explained why his company plans to move forward with $18 billion worth of broadband investments despite the fact that the Federal Communications Commission earlier this year passed what he and his fellow big carriers depicted as investment-destroying net neutrality regulations.

The number of tools that nefarious hackers have at their disposal these days is positively frightening. Over the weekend, Tim Cook was the keynote speaker at the George Washington University graduation. In typical fashion, the bulk of Cook’s speech focused on broad and important themes such as equality, social change, civil rights, and correcting injustices where and whenever it arises.
“Sidelines are not where you want to live your life, Cook said. “The world needs you in the arena. There are problems that need to be solved. Injustices that need to be ended. People that are still being persecuted.”
But before Cook got into the meat and potatoes of an otherwise inspiring speech, he couldn’t help but have a little but of fun at the expense of anyone in the crowd who just so happened to be carrying a non-iPhone smartphone, which in this day and age pretty much means Android and Windows Phones (sorry BlackBerry).
