A fleet of autonomous trucks drove hundreds of miles across Europe for a week

We can’t purchase our very own self-driving cars just yet. Regulatory hurdles are still in the way and car makers aren’t done testing autonomous vehicles to ensure that they’re safe enough to mingle with regular traffic. However, truck manufacturers seem to be farther along, at least in Europe, where fleets of trucks drove themselves across the continent.

The 4K revolution is happening a lot faster than most people initially anticipated. Not only are 4K HDTVs more affordable than ever before, smartphones have given millions of consumers the ability to record stunning 4K footage with a device that can fight right in their pocket.

Indeed, any smartphone worth its salt today is bound to have 4K recording functionality. Even the recently released iPhone SE, which can be picked up for free with contract, features a 4K camera.

Are things actually looking up for a major Android vendor? Samsung has seen its earnings deteriorate over the past couple of years but the company is expecting a significant boost in its Q1 2016 earnings thanks in part to sales of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. Via Android Central, Samsung is projecting an operating profit of $5.7 billion for Q1 2016, which represents a 10% increase over its operating profit in Q1 2015. The company is also projecting solid revenues of $42.3 billion, an increase over the $40.7 billion in revenues it posted in the same quarter last year.

One of Samsung’s best 4K upscaling Blu-ray players is on sale on Amazon

When it comes to DVD players, it’s a pretty safe bet to presume that pretty much every model out there is comparable. Blu-ray players, however, are an entirely different beast. You have a shiny new 4K Ultra HD TV and you have a Blu-ray player with 4K resolution, but not all of the discs you own are 4K. That’s where upscaling comes in — it’s obviously not the same as native 4K, but anyone who’s seen the difference between 1080p and upscaled content knows that it’s a much better viewing experience. The problem, of course, is that it’s much pricier… unless you catch a sale.

From now until the end of the day on April 16, the Samsung BD-J7500 3D 4K Upscaling Blu-ray Player with Wi-Fi (2015 Model) is on sale for $197.99 with free shipping.

I try not to form stereotypes about other cultures but… well, there’s not denying Japan produces some really, really weird popular culture. Japan’s penchant for weirdness was out in full force this week when Japanese heavy metal girl group Babymetal went on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert this week and ripped into their new single “Gimme Chocolate.” The result was as bizarre as you’d expect.

Apple wouldn’t make a redesigned 4-inch iPhone, so these guys built the ‘iPhone 6 SE’

Although the iPhone SE is on track to be yet another massive hit for Apple, it’s not what every potential buyer was looking for out of a new 4-inch device. The iPhone SE turned out to be little more than an iPhone 5s with upgraded internal components, lacking any distinct design alterations.

It’s hard to be overly enthusiastic about a new phone that looks like an old phone, but that’s exactly why Computer Bild’s iPhone 6 SE is such a fascinating project.

5 games that convinced me PlayStation VR is going to be a hit this fall

The dawn of VR gaming came and went without a great deal of fanfare. Sure, every technology blog on the internet is excitedly declaring virtual reality to be the next big thing, but the average consumer (or even the average gamer) simply doesn’t have the hardware to run a game in VR.

That’s where PlayStation VR is going to break boundaries this fall.

Elon Musk says Tesla will fix what critics call the Model 3’s ‘biggest design fail’

%name Elon Musk says Tesla will fix what critics call the Model 3’s ‘biggest design fail’ by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

With more than 325,000 reservations to date, it’s overwhelmingly clear that the Tesla Model 3 has what it takes to become a mainstream success, provided of course that Tesla can actually get its manufacturing capabilities to keep pace with demand. While prospective buyers have overwhelmingly indicated that they approve of the Model 3’s design and feature-set, Tesla’s highly anticipated EV isn’t entirely flawless. At least not yet.

As we highlighted previously, the lack of an instrument cluster on the dashboard has some potential buyers worried. One can only hope that a HUD option will be available by the time the car is released in late 2017. Another commonly levied concern about the Tesla Model 3 is that the car’s trunk design leaves a whole a lot to be desired.
