In case you haven’t noticed, T-Mobile will go to great lengths to troll its rivals, particularly AT&T. That said, we never expected that T-Mobile CEO John Legere would ever go this far just to take a shot at a rival carrier.

Per ESPN, Legere this week paid $21,800 for the rights to pick out a temporary tattoo that will be placed on track star Nick Symmonds’s right shoulder. This being Legere, he immediately started musing about whether to give the tattoo an anti-AT&T message.

No one can see the future but when it comes to Apple, some things are becoming surprisingly safe bets. For example, when Apple releases a new iPhone we can safely assume that it will be one of the most powerful and well-designed smartphones the world has ever seen. But on the flip side of the coin, it’s becoming equally safe to assume that any new service-based products Apple introduces are going to take a bit of time to mature.

That’s putting it mildly, to say the least. Another way to put it would be to say that Apple’s new software-based products are often a total mess at first, and it looks like we’ll soon see the company reel things in with its latest launch.

We’ve seen plenty of wild experimental smartphone concepts over the years but the new HoloFlex phone designed by Queen’s University’s Human Media Lab is something else. The phone combines 3D holographic images with a flexible display to create what might be a prototype for smartphones of the future.

The Human Media Lab explains that the HoloFlex is “is capable of rendering 3D images with motion parallax and stereoscopy to multiple simultaneous users without head tracking or glasses.” All images on the device’s display are “rendered into 12-pixel wide circular blocks rendering the full view of the 3D object from a particular viewpoint” so you can see every aspect of an object depending on the angle from which you’re looking at it.
