Apple’s new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have their fair share of critics, with one going as far as to call one of the new iPhone’s design features “appalling,” but there’s no question these phones are on their way to becoming the most popular handsets in the world. Apple already announced that the new iPhones combined to set an overnight record for preorders, and we’ll likely be reaching about a new sales record this time next week.

Apple fans loved it, investors were impressed and iPhone haters struggled to find anything of substance to complain about — in other words, Apple’s huge late-summer event was a success on all fronts. There was so much news to pack into the event that CEO Tim Cook skipped over his typical state of the Apple union notes and jumped right into the meat of the presentation, unveiling the brand new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones the world had been waiting for.

Cook and his fellow executives went on to announce Apple Pay and the Apple Watch, and they covered a few other items of note as well, but there was plenty more to discuss than what could fit into a single press conference. As such, Cook joined The Charlie Rose Show on Friday and took part in a huge interview, which has now been posted online in its entirety.

So it looks like this iPhone 6 device might be a pretty big hit. Apple announced on Monday that preorders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have smashed all previous records and totaled 4 million units over just the first 24 hours alone. BTIG analyst Walter Piecyk points out that this is roughly twice the number of iPhone 5 preorders that Apple received back in 2012. We can’t compare this year’s preorders to last year’s because the iPhone 5s and 5c weren’t available for preorder when they launched.

Some Apple fans were upset by the launch of the Apple Watch last week, as the device’s design wasn’t as stylish as they had hoped it would be. However, it turns out this sort of reaction on the part of the Apple fan base isn’t new because many of them had similar reactions to the first-generation iPod when it was launched all the way back in 2001.

Recently, a Time Warner Cable customer who had signed up for one of the company’s two-year offers was surprised to see their cable bill jump by $15 per month after just one year. After making multiple calls to Time Warner Cable to ask why their bill had increased from the rate they thought that they’d locked in for two years, they were told that TWC reserved the right to increase their rates after the first year of the promotion. Furthermore, they were told that it was “only” a $15 monthly increase, which is still below the rate they would have been charged without the promotion.
