One of this year’s coolest new iOS 8 additions is Handoff, a new feature that lets you quickly move information and data between iOS devices and your Mac. While Android users can’t get this feature on their devices, they can get some of its functionalities by downloading the PPLNotify Notifications on PC & Mac app onto their Android phone.

If for some reason you really need to know when you’ll die, then the App Store’s got you covered, as Business Insider found a new $0.99 iPhone app that will guesstimate your death day for you. The Deadline app integrates with Apple’s iOS 8 Health app, to give you the answer to this rather morbid action, which means that in theory you could live longer if you better watch your health.

The three main mobile operating systems all have their respective voice-based virtual assistants to help users with various tasks during the day. Apple’s Siri, Google’s Google Now and Microsoft’s Cortana have been compared in many tests since the latter was unveiled earlier this year, with most of them suggesting that all three assistants generally perform well, with Google Now having certain advantages when it comes to the things it can offer users, and Cortana being able to keep up with its older rivals.

A Virgin Galactic spaceship that was on a test flight has crashed in California’s Mojave Desert, leaving at least one pilot dead, Bloomberg reports. The ship, which was part of Virgin’s exploratory space tourism program, was being flown by two pilots, one of whom escaped the crash with nonlethal injuries, local police sources said. The Mojave Air & Space Port, which is where the Virgin Galactic ship flew out from, is set to have a news conference to address the tragedy at 5 p.m. ET on Friday. Space tourism has become a growing industry in the tech world, as both Virgin Galactic and Elon Musk’s SpaceX have been working on technology to make commercial space flights economically feasible.

Over the past year, Netflix has announced a colorful smorgasbord of new original content projects that include comedy, animation, historical epics, science fiction sagas, dramedies, biopics, super hero series, etc. This towering ambition has clearly increased the concerns of media moguls. Now the 21st Century Fox chairman Rupert Murdoch has spelled out bluntly what he thinks: “As an industry, we need a competitor — a serious competitor — to Netflix and Amazon.”

AT&T announced on Friday that its top tier Mobile Share Value plan customers will receive more data for no extra cost beginning November 2nd. Once the new plans go into effect, customers paying $40 for 2GB will be upgraded to 3GB and those paying $70 for 4GB will be upgraded to 6GB. All Mobile Share Value plans will also include unlimited talk, text and international messaging for no additional charge.

One of the most surprising announcements Google made when launching the highly anticipated Nexus 6 was that no less than five U.S. carriers would be selling the handset at launch including the main four mobile operators, a first in Nexus smartphone history. Since then, Google made it clear that it plans to sell the Nexus 6 mostly through carrier deals rather than the Google Play Store, and that the more expensive Nexus 6 should sell even better than predecessors, as people are more likely to buying it on-contract with a carrier.
