IOS 8 has been out for more than a month now. In fact, we already saw Apple release its first major update to the platform last month when iOS 8.1 brought bug fixes and a few new features such as Apple Pay. But as long as some of us have been using iOS 8 — and we say “some” of us because there are still millions of people who can’t update their devices — there are still plenty of new features we don’t know about. Apple packed in so much new functionality that it’s impossible to find and remember it all.

When we reviewed Motorola’s second-generation Moto X back in September, we called it the best Android phone in the world. Of course, a lot has changed since then. Bigger phones have been released. Faster phones have been released. More powerful phones have been released. In fact, Motorola itself launched a smartphone last week that fits all three of those criteria. What hasn’t been released, however, is a better smartphone. The Moto X offers a size, shape, display, interface, price and user experience that are ideal for the widest range of smartphone users looking for a high-end phone. And soon, it will also offer Android 5.0.

Regular BGR readers will know that when it comes to smartphone cases, I am not a fan. Industrial design, ergonomics and materials are all hugely important pieces of the smartphone experience, and cases typical spoil all of them. As strongly as I dislike cases, however, I almost always have a case on my iPhone 6. As anyone who has ever held one knows, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are the most slippery phones on the face of the planet.

Beyond that, not using a case on Apple’s new iPhones leaves them vulnerable to a few troublesome issues, namely “Bendgate” and “Dyegate.”

So, the task for me has become finding the least offensive cases out there that will protect my iPhone 6 without making it look and feel hideous in the process.

So you think you’re going to save money by canceling your cable TV service and watching your favorite shows through online streaming options? Samsung fans, we have good news and better news. The good news is that Samsung is hard at work preparing a big Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its smartphone lineup — and not just its latest phones, but last year’s popular handsets as well. The better news is that Samsung is much further along in the process than you might assume. In fact, it’s so far along that a very stable version of Samsung’s Android 5.0 build for the Galaxy S4 has leaked, and we can see the new software in action along with Samsung’s redesigned TouchWiz user interface in a new video that hit the web on Friday.
