One of the weirder trends that I’ve noticed at CES 2015 so far is the resurrection of three thought-to-be-dead smartphone platforms that have been brought back to life as smart TV platforms. Panasonic announced that its own smart TVs will run Mozilla’s Firefox OS, LG said that its new TVs would run on Palm’s beloved-but-defunct webOS, and Samsung showed off its first TVs running on its own Tizen platform.

The problem with current wireless charging devices is that in most cases a charging pad tied to the wall is needed for actually charging devices wirelessly. That’s exactly what startup Energous wants to change in the future, as the company has come up with a solution that would offer true wireless charging powers, Engadget reports. Demoed at CES 2015, the WattUp is a wireless router that can beam energy wirelessly to devices as far as 20 feet away.

Even though it has a large 7-inch display that’s usually seen on tablets, the Boss is actually a dual-SIM Android smartphone that comes with Tor privacy-enhancing features. Announced at CES 2015, the Boss phone is currently seeking funding on Indiegogo, aiming to reach its $150,000 goal by March 2nd.

Google isn’t the only company out there interested in putting self-driving cars on the road, and the search giant may have some serious competition in the future, with companies such as Mercedes-Benz also looking to offer passengers smart cars that drive themselves around. Unlike Google’s cutesy self-driving car concept, the new autonomous car unveiled on Monday by Mercedes-Benz looks more like the luxurious smart car you’d want to own in the future.

Although Samsung didn’t make any major waves during its afternoon keynote address, the company was feeling more lively on Monday evening during the keynote address of Samsung co-CEO BK Yoon. Samsung on Monday announced the new SmartThings Hub, which has been designed as a complete hub for the so-called “Internet of Things.”

Buying a new television can be debilitating, but Netflix wants to make the decision easier for its subscribers. That’s why the company behind the streaming service is introducing the Netflix Recommended TV program, an evaluation program which will grade smart TVs based on how well they interact with various Internet TV services, including Netflix.

Samsung is reportedly supposed to bring two Galaxy S6 versions at CES 2015, including one that has a curved display similar to the Galaxy Note Edge, in order to demo them to mobile operators behind closed doors. Further supporting the rumor about two distinct Galaxy S6 models is South Korean publication AsiaE, which has found out that the new Galaxy S6 Edge flavor might pack two edge displays rather than just the one featured on the Galaxy Note Edge, with Samsung aiming to sell quite a lot of such devices this year.
