In case you missed it, a dentist from Minnesota has generated an unfathomable amount of criticism after it was revealed that he flew to Zimbabwe and spent $55,000 to kill a lion. While the dentist in question, one Walter Palmer, claims that he went about the killing legally — which is to say his tour guides secured the proper permits — it turns out that the lion he shot was a beloved beast named Cecil. It’s also been suggested that the permits secured may not have been above board. What’s more, Palmer has also been criticized for luring Cecil off of a wildlife preserve with the smell of a dead carcass, a practice that is largely illegal even in areas where big game hunting is allowed.
When word of Cecil’s killing spread, Palmer was expectedly the target of the Internet’s collective wrath. Even Jimmy Kimmel chimed in on the story during his Tuesday night broadcast. Also targeted in the wake of Cecil’s killing was Palmer’s dentistry practice where users have taken to Yelp and have bombarded the site with negative, and at times, hilarious reviews.

The incredibly long time it takes for many Android phones to receive software updates is something that has driven users crazy for years now. Longtime Android fanboy Lorenzo Franceschi-Bicchierai recently reached a breaking point with Android after news broke this week about a massive flaw in the platform that lets hackers compromise Android devices simply by sending them either an MMS message or a multimedia file. In particular, Franceschi-Bicchierai was enraged that it would take so long for his phone to get a necessary patch, if it ever got it at all.

The Lexus Slide hoverboard shown off in a teaser ad not long ago turned plenty of heads. It was meant to be more of a publicity stunt than a real product, at least according to what Lexus said, but the hoverboard is actually real and it’s coming sooner than you think.

It’s a busy day in the tech world today as Microsoft just a few hours ago released Windows 10 in 190 countries. And in case you missed it, the friendly folks in Redmond are making the upgrade to Windows 10 completely free for existing Windows 7 and Windows 8 users. Of course, if you happen to be running Vista or XP, there are ways for you to get Windows 10 for free as well.
Thus far, early reviews of Windows 10 have been overwhelmingly positive as Microsoft seems to have corrected many of the frustrations that plagued Windows 8. Which is to say, if you’re a Windows user, this is an upgrade you’d be well advised to check out as soon as possible.

There are some people in the world who are just disgusting. One of them is Walter James Palmer, a dentist from Minnesota who doubles as a big-game hunter in his spare time. Palmer was in the news this week after it was revealed that he paid upwards of $50,000 for the right to shoot and kill a beloved lion named Cecil who resided in Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park.

When was the last time I actually felt excited by a new version of Windows? I think I’d have to go back all the way to Windows 98, which came out at a time when Microsoft completely ruled the computing world and Apple was on death’s doorstep. OK, so I do remember being excited for Windows 8… until I actually started using it. Windows 8.1 offered some much-needed relief but it felt like a transition to Microsoft’s next big thing. All of which brings us to Windows 10.
