The Martian looks like one of the most exciting movies of the year though it may face some tough competition at the box office this fall. Directed by Ridley Scott, a versed sci-fi movie maker, the film tells the story of an astronaut who gets stranded on Mars and has to find ways to survive in hope of a less-than-likely rescue mission, then somehow contact Earth to let everyone know that he’s actually alive.

A series of trailers that make the story look like a real NASA endeavor might have you all excited about the movie that’s set to hit theaters in October. However, fans of the Alien franchise should be even more excited to hear that Scott confirmed he’s working on Prometheus 2, the second episode in the prequel adventures of the Alien universe.

With an intuitive interface that puts other BitTorrent clients to shame, Popcorn Time makes it easier than ever for users to stream their favorite TV shows and movies from within a browser or even right from their smartphones.

Not surprisingly, Popcorn Time’s arrival has been resulted in an appreciable increase in overall piracy rates across the globe. Underscoring the threat that Popcorn Time poses to traditional industry revenue streams, Netflix a few months ago even called out the service by name, painting it as a strategic threat to its core business.

Rapper Lil Wayne this weekend took the wraps off of Lil WeezyAna Fest, a star-studded music festival in New Olreans designed to raise money for kids affected by Hurricane Katrina. It’s a noble cause, to be sure, and it attracted a who’s who of performers from the rap game, including Drake, Master P, and even a Hot Boys reunion.

So far so good, right?

Well as it turns out, Tidal, the music streaming service backed by Jay-Z, was live streaming the event for fans who couldn’t be there in person. Only thing is, by the time Drake took the stage to perform, the live stream went dead with an ominous message indicating that Apple, aka “Big Brother”, was preventing Tidal from showcasing Drake’s performance to fans across the globe. Drake, of course, has a lucrative endorsement deal with Tidal competitor Apple Music, even appearing on stage during the service’s introduction at WWDC this past June.

With a revamped Apple TV just around the corner, Apple is laying the groundwork for what may soon be a wildly successful TV streaming business.

With streaming services like Netflix and HBO Now more popular than ever, the writing on the wall is clear: consumers, on the whole, just aren’t as interested in paying $100 a month for 150 channels. Instead, they’re much happier getting less and paying less.

With that in mind, Apple’s rumored TV subscription service may truly be a market disruptor. Not to mention, it would certainly fit Apple’s time-tested m.o of coming to the party late yet still being able to turn an industry on its head.

The iPhone 6s is nearly here and 9to5Mac has posted some new leaked photos that give us a look at two of the device’s key new features: Force Touch and a larger FaceTime camera. Force Touch is the technology that Apple introduced with the Apple Watch that lets users execute different commands on a touch display depending on how hard they press on it. The larger FaceTime camera, meanwhile, is designed to help users take higher quality selfies and will even come with its own flash to make it easier to take selfies in the dark.
