It’s pretty crazy what companies get away with when they have a little brand recognition — like charging $200 for a home security camera that probably cost about $11 to make. Luckily there are some fantastic options out there that are just as good as a Nest Cam at a fraction of the price. Our favorite is the Wyze Cam 1080p HD Indoor Wireless Smart Home Camera, which streams 1080p and has all of the same main features as the Nest Cam. In fact, there are only two main differences: The Wyze Cam comes with 14 days of free cloud storage, and it costs $26 instead of $200.

Wyze Cam 1080p HD Indoor Wireless Smart Home Camera with Night Vision, 2-Way Audio, Works with…: $24.99

  • Motion Tagging technology detects and outlines motion in both live stream and playback video modes. Operating system supports ios 8.0 and android 5.0 or later.
  • Motion and sound detection with free rolling 14-day cloud storage. Use the Wyze App (iOS and Android) to manage and share multiple cameras. Add a microSD card (up to 32GB max size) for local storage.

%name ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ and all the new ‘Avengers’ clips you need to see from this week by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

You can tell that there’s just one week left until Avengers: Endgame hits cinemas around the world, because we don’t have any big movie launches this weekend. Not only that, but studios haven’t exactly been generous with new movie trailers this week either. It’s as if they’re planning to launch trailers next week when cinemas will be packed with moviegoers looking to find out how the Infinity War ends.

Marvel, on the other hand, released a bunch of new clips for Endgame, from a trailer-like video to short TV spots, showing a few scenes that weren’t included in any of the previous trailers.

This tiny RC car could absolutely destroy your car in a race

%name This tiny RC car could absolutely destroy your car in a race by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

A 0-to-60 mph time of under three seconds is something that all but the most wealthy supercar owners are ever likely to enjoy. A 0-to-100 mph time of just over five seconds? Well now we’re in territory that few production automobiles have ever dared tread, but it’s all in a day’s work for RC enthusiasts who seek to achieve the most ludicrous speeds with their high-tech toys.

A recent video posted by YouTuber Innovation RC clearly demonstrates just how insane RC cars can be, with one of the pint-sized speed demons hitting an absolutely absurd speed of 124 mph in less than eight seconds, all while hauling a not-super-light action camera and traveling over what seems to be a fairly rough surface.

Fans can’t accept this controversial ‘Avengers: Endgame’ leak, but here’s why it makes perfect sense

%name Fans can’t accept this controversial ‘Avengers: Endgame’ leak, but here’s why it makes perfect sense by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Wow, what a week this was for Avengers fans. A few days ago someone leaked almost five minutes of blurry Avengers: Endgame footage that had never been seen before, and it spilled several of Marvel’s best-kept secrets. We then witnessed a barrage of new Avengers 4 commercials and ads, which contained plenty of brand new scenes from the film and delivered additional spoilers. We also saw someone leak a pretty detailed account of the Endgame plot, peppered with several interesting details and a mind-blowing revelation that I said would ruin the film for you even if the claims are fake.

It turns out that plenty of Marvel fans out there have problems dealing with that controversial theory, but I’m here to tell you why it’s brilliant and it makes perfect sense for the film. The more I think about it, the more sense it makes and the more I want to see in Avengers 4. Before we get any further, given how massive this spoiler might be, I’ll advise MCU fans who hate spoilers to avoid my explanations at least until premiere day.

Watch Steve Jobs prank call Starbucks live on stage during the very first iPhone event

%name Watch Steve Jobs prank call Starbucks live on stage during the very first iPhone event by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Steve Jobs is known for a lot of things. He was an incredible businessman, a world-class salesman, and he was obviously quite the visionary. When listing Jobs’s top qualities, however, his sense of humor doesn’t typically come up. Jobs was a terrific showman though, and the little jokes he cracked here and there during Apple’s press conferences always helped keep things light. This was actually a very important yet underappreciated element of Apple’s strategy during product announcements. The company’s marketing has always revolved around hyperbole (It’s magic! It’s all screen!). In an advertisement that you see here and there in passing, that’s fine. When you’re watching a press conference and every other sentence is about how magical, revolutionary, and groundbreaking Apple products are, a little levity or comic relief is a must.

Everyone remembers Apple’s big first-generation iPhone announcement event back in 2007. There were so many iconic moments in that presentation, which saw the unveiling of a device that would quite literally flip the smartphone industry on its head. One moment in particular was the subject of a recent Reddit thread though, and we want to share it because it’s something most people likely forgot all about.

Hurricane Michael was even more powerful than scientists initially thought

%name Hurricane Michael was even more powerful than scientists initially thought by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The science of tracking hurricanes has seen huge advancements in recent years, allowing forecasters to better predict paths and overall impact of the large storms before they actually reach land. Warning systems and preventative measures are getting better, but it’s an imperfect science, and even measuring the sheer power of a hurricane as it’s happening can be difficult.

In a new announcement from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Hurricane Michael, which made landfall in October of last year on Florida, has now been upgraded from a category 4 storm to a category 5. This makes the storm the first category 5 hurricane to make landfall in the United States since 1992’s Hurricane Andrew.

If you’ve paid attention to tech industry news to any degree over the past day or two, you’re no doubt aware that Samsung is dealing with a bit of unpleasant scrutiny at the moment over reports of early units of its forthcoming Galaxy Fold phone mysteriously breaking. Definitely a bad look for Samsung and suggestive that the company may have rushed its first foldable handset into production, or that there may at least have been some issues around quality control.

It was hard not to be reminded of those reports about Galaxy Folds breaking after a day or so of normal usage while watching the behind-the-scenes video that complements Apple’s latest “Shot on iPhone” commercial.

Avoid these Android apps like the plague

%name Avoid these Android apps like the plague by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Revelations about apps from the Google Play Store sneaking past available protections and collecting gobs of user data without permission are nothing new, but a new investigation has revealed an especially troubling pattern of behavior among one particular set of apps.

A BuzzFeed analysis recently found that several Android apps that happen to be among the most-downloaded on the Google Play Store may in fact have been sharing data they collect with the Chinese government. One of the apps in question, a selfie app, has been downloaded more than 50 million times and all of them have reportedly been “committing large-scale ad fraud and abusing user permissions,” according to the report.
