Facebook has been dealing with one privacy-related scandal after another for more than a year now, a reality that’s about to present the social networking company with a seriously heavy financial penalty.

The company shared its first quarter results for 2019 Wednesday afternoon, and as part of that disclosure came Facebook’s acknowledgement that it expects a multibillion-dollar fine to come down from the US Federal Trade Commission. Facebook is anticipating anywhere from a $3 billion to $5 billion fine, which will certainly be a record-setting penalty for the company.

%name AT&T will unveil its new streaming service (and maybe ruin HBO Now) this fall by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Apple and Disney have already hosted splashy media events showcasing the new streaming services they each plan to launch later this year to host original content and hopefully siphon some viewership away from Netflix. Hubble enjoyed a colorful view of the Southern Crab Nebula to celebrate 29 years in space

%name Hubble enjoyed a colorful view of the Southern Crab Nebula to celebrate 29 years in space by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The Hubble Space Telescope has provided mankind with some of the most incredible views of space that we’ve ever seen. It’s shown us breathtaking images of distant objects and structures for nearly three decades, and to celebrate the 29th anniversary of its launch NASA took the time to show us some of the best galactic eye candy yet.

What you see above is the Southern Crab Nebula, which gets its unique appearance from a pair of stars locked in an incredibly close relationship. Material from one of the stars is regularly spewing out, being drawn in by the gravity of its companion star and filling the gap between both stellar bodies. The material is pushed out into space in a shape that vaguely resembled an hourglass.

These are the reasons the Galaxy Fold failed

%name These are the reasons the Galaxy Fold failed by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Shortly after Samsung sent Galaxy Fold review units to journalists this month, all hell broke loose. No matter how thoroughly Samsung tested the durability of its first foldable handset in controlled conditions, real-life usage has proven that the phone is simply not ready for prime time.

Some issues that arose, such as when reviewers peeled off the protective film, were obvious. Others, not so much. Samsung has postponed the Galaxy Fold launch, saying that it’s thoroughly examining all the reported problems. And while we’ll have to wait for their conclusions, we do now have some preliminary explanations as to why the Galaxy Fold screen is prone to failing.

High-resolution Pixel 3a leak reveals the design of Google’s next phone

%name High resolution Pixel 3a leak reveals the design of Google’s next phone by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Much like the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Fold before it, Google’s Pixel 3a appears to have leaked in full ahead of its unveiling next month. On Wednesday morning, VentureBeat’s Evan Blass piled on with a leak of his own — a high-resolution Pixel 3a render that gives us our clearest look yet at the midrange phone.

As previous leaks revealed, the Pixel 3a is a blast from the past, with a design more reminiscent of the phones that came before the iPhone X than the phones that have made their debut over the last 12 to 18 months. No notches, no triple-lens camera, no in-display fingerprint sensor — the Pixel 3a forgoes all of the modern design advances that the industry has adopted in favor of a classic design that basically mirrors that of the Pixel 3.

NBC is finally taking steps to remove ‘The Office’ from Netflix

%name NBC is finally taking steps to remove ‘The Office’ from Netflix by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

According to Nielsen data covering the 12 months that ended this past July, Netflix users during that span watched The Office for 45.8 billion minutes.

That’s according to a new report today from The Wall Street Journal, which is topped by the on-again, off-again news that Netflix may finally be poised to lose what looks to be its number 1 show — the NBC mockumentary about the daily goings on inside a regional office of a middling paper supply company. NBC, according to the report, has apparently begun talks to pull The Office from Netflix once the licensing contract with the streamer expires in 2021, something that, as the statistic in the first paragraph should make clear, would be a huge loss for Netflix.

New report claims a cheaper Nintendo Switch is about to be released

%name New report claims a cheaper Nintendo Switch is about to be released by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Yet another source claims that Nintendo will launch a cheaper Switch model this summer. In a new report focusing on the company’s continued success, Bloomberg cites people familiar with Nintendo’s plans that believe “a new, cheaper version of the Switch” will be on store shelves by the end of June. This will help Nintendo to maintain its growth year-over-year, even as Sony and Microsoft begin to gear up for the next generation.

Although Nintendo has yet to acknowledge any future hardware plans for the Switch, reports have suggested that the cheaper model would have a smaller display and might not come with a dock or even support the dock. With the 3DS seemingly nearing the end of its life span, the Switch could replace it altogether.
