Apple’s new iPhone 11 lineup is set to debut just over than three months from now, but a fairly complete picture has already formed. We know that this year’s iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max, and iPhone 11R will look exactly like last year’s iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR from the front, with the same all-screen design interrupted by the same large notch at the top of the display. We also know that the new iPhone 11 series will feature new rear cameras on the back of each handset. The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max will have triple-lens cameras in a large square camera bump, while the iPhone 11R (or whatever Apple ends up calling it) will feature the same square camera bump but with only a dual-lens camera, likely the same setup that can currently be found on the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.

Beyond the new cameras and a few other changes like frosted glass backs and a round mute switch, there isn’t much excitement to speak of when it comes to Apple’s iPhone designs in 2019. Meanwhile, Android vendors have moved past the iPhone X design they all copied last year and begun to develop some sleek new designs of their own. Samsung’s Galaxy S10 lineup features a beautiful all-screen design with hole-punch cameras instead of a notch, and phones like the OnePlus 7 Pro don’t even break up the screen with a hole. Instead, they feature true-all screen designs and have a selfie camera that pops up out of the top edge of the phone when needed.

Apple’s iPhone 11 design is indeed a bit stale in comparison, which is likely why one graphic designer took all of the leaks and rumors we’ve seen so far and added his own unique spin to create an iPhone 11 with a much sleeker and more modern design.

Man swimming off Hawaii coast killed in shark attack

A 65-year-old man swimming off the coast of Maui on Saturday morning is now dead after an encounter with a shark. Thomas Smiley, who CNN reports was from California, was approximately 60 yards from Kaanapali Beach at the time. He was brought back ashore and CPR was performed but the man ultimately died of his injuries.

It’s the first shark attack off of the Maui coast this year and an incredibly rare example of a fatal shark attack in the waters around the Hawaiian islands. It’s just the second fatal shark attack in U.S. waters in the past four years.

When Samsung first showcased the Infinity-O display, with its signature hole-punch design, the discussion revolved around whether or not Samsung’s idea was preferable to the iPhone X-style notch. In the end, it’s really just a matter of personal preference. But when it comes to creative wallpapers to hide the cut-out, the notch is no competition for the hole-punch, as we’ve seen on multiple occasions over the past few months.

Users of the Android version of Spotify, like Reddit user Studdz, have been raving over the past few days about the quiet addition of a highly requested feature to the Android version of the music streaming app.

Users have started noticing the presence of a Sleep Timer as one of the options in the “Now Playing” menu, something a recent leak had already pointed out seemed to be coming soon. “I’ve been waiting for this feature forever,” Studdz posted under a Reddit thread titled “Thank you for the sleep timer, Spotify.”

While demand for Tesla’s Model 3 has never been much of a problem, the company took its sweet time before making the $35,000 configuration available to prospective buyers. This naturally rubbed many the wrong way given that the entire impetus behind the Model 3 was to offer up an affordable EV for the masses. Instead, the cheapest Model 3 for quite a while was priced at $42,900.

The reasoning behind this, not surprisingly, involves Tesla’s ongoing struggles to generate as much cash as possible. Explaining Tesla’s thought process on the matter, Elon Musk last year said that if Tesla were to ship the minimum cost Model 3 right out of the gate, it “would cause Tesla to lose money and die.” In short, Tesla prioritized selling higher-margin versions of the Model 3 above all else.
