Samsung exec says the Galaxy Fold will actually be released soon

The Galaxy Fold was supposed to be a celebration of Samsung ingenuity when it comes to mobile innovation. But the phone was dead on arrival the minute Samsung launched. In just a matter of days, we were shown foldable phones that looked a lot better than the Galaxy Fold, including its most important rival, the Huawei Mate X, which has a gorgeous design by comparison. Samsung worked on the Fold for years, and it already faced terrific competition out of the gate. And that’s before people got their hands on either device. That’s when disaster truly hit. Samsung’s Fold turned out to feature a few unexpected design choices that lead to almost immediate screen destruction. And screen integrity was our biggest worry for foldable phones, no matter who made them. The phone, supposed to launch on April 26th, was sent back for repairs, with Samsung failing to announce a new launch date — or what it did to fix the problems. But it looks like that may change soon.

Galaxy Note 10 to launch on August 7th in New York

We expect Samsung to launch its next flagship in early August, because that’s what Samsung did with the Galaxy Note line for the past few years. Eager to beat the latest iPhone batch to market, and avoid any competition from Apple, Samsung has pushed its Note events to August from early September — the IFA event in September used to be the Note’s home until a few years ago. And it looks like we already have a possible launch date for the handset: August 7th.

These record-breaking numbers for Adam Sandler’s new Netflix movie are insane

In case you were one of the people scratching their heads when Netflix announced a four-movie deal with Adam Sandler back in 2015 (and then another four-movie deal two years ago) Netflix may have just cleared things up a bit for you.

Sure, at the time those deals were announced you could have rightfully pointed to a kind of ho-hum run at the box office Sandler was enjoying at the moment. Netflix at the time, though, promised that they were paying attention to the data and that the data was sending a loud and clear message — namely, that viewers love Sandler.

Who could have seen this coming? Taco Bell on Tuesday decided to launch a giveaway, handing out free Doritos Locos Tacos to customers as part of the chain’s “Steal a Game, Steal a Taco” promotion in honor of the Golden State Warriors’ “stealing” a win on the road during the second game of this year’s NBA finals. But the company got an unexpected result.

If you guessed that the giveaway would prove to be so popular that it briefly made it impossible to order from Taco Bell’s website or mobile app, you would be correct.

Mars has a brand new crater, and it sure is pretty

Mars, like any other rocky world, has its fair share of craters. These scars of ancient impacts give the dusty surface of the planet some serious personality, and sometimes it’s easy to forget that new craters can happen right before our eyes. That’s exactly what seems to have occurred, and a new image from NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter reveals a brand new impact site that might only be a few months old.

The image, which was captured by the HiRISE camera built into the orbiter, shows a bold dark patch of material surrounding a circular crater on the Martian surface. Researchers believe it might have been created as recently as February 2019.

The Nintendo Switch could be a great tablet, if Nintendo wanted it to be anything more than a portable gaming console, and some people have set out to prove exactly that. One such user was able to play Blizzard’s multiplayer shooter Overwatch on the Nintendo Switch over Nvidia’s GameStream.

Huawei promises 100% refunds if Google and Facebook apps stop working

Huawei is resorting to drastic measures to counteract the effects of its inclusion on a US blacklist, which has resulted in several key US companies cutting ties with the Chinese electronics giant.

The biggest blows to result from the Huawei ban, however, arguably relate to the imminent loss of access to Google’s Android mobile OS as well as Google’s proprietary app marketplace. Meanwhile, Facebook also reportedly is no longer allowing Huawei to pre-install its apps on Huawei phones.

NASA’s asteroid probe snapped its closest photo yet of space rock Bennu

NASA’s OSIRIS-REx asteroid probe is giving scientists an even better look at the surface of the space rock known as Bennu now that it’s moved even closer to the object. A new photo posted by the partnership between NASA and the University of Arizona gives us what might be our most detailed glimpse yet at the rock.

The spacecraft has been hanging around Bennu for several months now, and will continue to do so for several more. Its new orbit, which its handlers call the Orbital B phase, brings it within a half mile of Bennu’s surface, and this new photo shows us exactly what it sees as it orbits.
