I’m hoping that things change in the (near) future, but for now, my smartphone outsmarts any in-car navigation system that I’ve seen. To date, I have yet to find anything as excellent as having Google Maps leading the way, which presents a relatively simple problem: How is one supposed to mount his or her phone in their vehicle without leaving any permanent scars?

Time Warner Cable earlier this year said that it just doesn’t see why it should create a high-speed fiber network on par with Google Fiber since most of its customers just don’t “need” that kind of speed. However, a new study from Cisco shows that even if we don’t “need” to have super-fast networks right this instant, we definitely will in the near future as more and more people watch their video online instead of through cable boxes or over the air.

The 2014 Yorkville Exotic Car Show marks the 5th year for this popular annual event which takes over the streets of downtown Toronto on every Father’s Day. Apart from the obvious eye candy in attendance, part of what makes this a special event so successful every year includes the free admission, rare vehicle displays and dedicated sponsors who all come together in support of fundraising for Prostate Cancer Canada.

Last year, we saw supercars and exotics by the dozen with fleets of Ferraris, Aston Martins, Lamborghinis, your “every-day” Porsche Carreras and GT3s, plus a few McLaren MP4-12C’s and all kinds of vintage flavours too. While exotics are a common sight in Toronto’s upscale Yorkville shopping, dining and entertainment district, spotting endless fleets of them like this isn’t. The huge display of cars last year was estimated to be valued at over $16 million dollars, a record that is likely to be broken with the number of vehicles already registered to display for 2014.

Check out our huge mega-gallery of previous highlights and watch the video from last year down below. Hope to see you all there on June 15, 2014, as supercars will be spread along Bloor Street West between Avenue Road and Bay Street in Toronto.

Cosworth double-feature is XCar’s a drool-worthy look back

X Car Films Ford Cosworth 002 Cosworth double feature is XCars a drool worthy look back by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

While American fans of Ford performance cars in the ’80s and early ’90s were loving the 5.0 Mustang, Taurus SHO and, for those who wanted to be a little different, the Merkur XR4Ti, British fans of the Blue Oval were getting their own unique take on speed. The Sierra RS Cosworth (which was similar but not identical to the aforementioned Merkur) and later Escort RS Cosworth were the stuff of dreams with huge wings, hood vents and big power for their time and class. XCar Films aims to find out whether it is little more than nostalgia that makes these classics famous or it really is their legitimate performance.

Thanks to its Formula One and racing success, Cosworth was already a well-established performance name in the UK by the time it began selling tuned engines to Ford for the Sierra and Escort. The Sierra RS Cosworth hit the scene in 1986 with a turbocharged, 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 204 horsepower and rear-wheel drive. Its huge wing at the back signaled it immediately as something special, and it proved to be a performance powerhouse on and off the track. When it was retired, Ford replaced it with the Escort RS Cosworth that used an upgraded version of the same engine with 217 hp, all-wheel drive and an even bigger rear wing to net yet more racing victories.

XCar really gets into the spirit of the time, opening the video with the lo-fi grain of ’80s and ’90s TV, but to find out whether the Cossies stand up to modern scrutiny, you have to watch the video below. Stay tuned until the end to enjoy them at their best with some vintage motorsports footage.

Comcast has a brand new feature for its Internet subscribers called Xfinity Wi-Fi, but it’s going about it the wrong way, likely making even more enemies in the process. SeattlePi reports that Comcast is turning some of the Wi-Fi routers placed in the homes of subscribers into a “massive public Wi-Fi hotspot network,” but it’s doing so without giving customers the opportunity to opt out before the service is rolled out.
