GameStop is hoping that a just-announced slew of offers as part of its spring sale that kicks off on Sunday will bring in some much-needed revenue for the beleaguered gaming retail chain, following a bad earnings report that crushed the company’s stock a few days ago.

This also follows the company’s recent announcement of a new emphasis it will be putting on e-sports, which comes as the chain’s focus on sales of physicals discs and trade-ins of pre-owned games is increasingly falling out of step with the industry’s move toward digital gaming.

The 5G revolution is slowly getting off the ground but Apple will be sitting on the sidelines for the time being. As is to be expected, and similar to its previous strategy with respect to 4G a few years back, Apple is planning to wait for broader nationwide coverage before joining the 5G party. So while 2019 will see any number of 5G enabled devices from Android hit the market, iPhone users will have to wait a bit. The only question, though, is how long that wait is going to be.

Despite the widespread assumption that 5G enabled iPhones will hit store shelves in 2020, recent investor notes from analysts have raised the possibility that Intel — Apple’s chief 5G modem supplier — will not be able to produce modems at the scale Apple needs. Meanwhile, Apple isn’t liable to strike up a deal with Qualcomm given that the two companies are still battling it out over royalty payment issues in jurisdictions across the globe.

With just a matter of days left before the arrival of the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, no one needs a reminder of how popular HBO’s epic fantasy series has grown to be over the last several years. The red carpet premiere a few days ago at Radio City Music Hall of the new season’s first episode offered yet another example of how much of a cultural force it’s become.

Using geotagged data from more than 200,000 tweets over the last month, they tracked the mentions of Game of Thrones characters across all 50 states in an attempt to try and ID the most popular citizens of Westeros.

We’re in the endgame of Disney and Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame marketing campaign. The two companies seem to be pulling out all the stops in the weeks leading up to what will likely be the biggest movie of 2019 — and I say that being fully aware that the finale of the third Star Wars trilogy is hitting theaters too.

This week alone we saw a Special Look clip that qualifies as a new Endgame trailer considering all the new footage Marvel revealed, as well as a TV spot that contained a few new scenes. On top of that, the Avengers: Endgame scene that was first shown during the Disney shareholders meeting in early March was again shared with a limited audience, this time at CinemaCon 2019. No matter how you try to spin it, there’s no getting around the fact that iPhone sales have been stagnant over the past few years. Despite some respectable upgrades over the past few years — the introduction of Face ID and a brand new form factor with the iPhone X being two prime examples — the simple reality is that consumers are holding onto their devices for longer. Suffice it to say, the 2-year upgrade cycle that helped transform Apple into the most profitable company on the planet is now nothing but a memory.

Looking ahead, there is reason to believe that a monster refresh cycle — which analysts have been anticipating for the last two years — may be right around the corner. Most notably, the advent of 5G may prove to be just what Apple needs to inject a little bit of life into the iPhone line. Unfortunately, though, Apple will not be adopting 5G until 2020 at the absolute earliest. A recent analyst report even floated the idea that 5G iPhones may not see the light of day until 2021.
