Microsoft’s new Edge browser might get me to dump Chrome for the first time in a decade

%name Microsoft’s new Edge browser might get me to dump Chrome for the first time in a decade by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Like millions of others, I abandoned Firefox and Safari in favor of Google’s Chrome browser at the end of the last decade, and despite a rocky start in terms of performance, the ease of use and sleek design were too much for other browsers to overcome. I continued to test new browsers as they arrived and old browsers as they received significant updates, but nothing could ever match Chrome, and so I now have it installed on every device I own.

At this point, I’m so tethered to the ecosystem that it’s hard for me to even imagine what a browser would need to do in order to tear me away from the most popular browser on the planet. And that’s why I’m so shocked to disclose that after just a few hours of testing, I’m already thinking about jumping ship in favor of — drum roll, please — Microsoft’s new Edge browser. Yes, the latest browser from the company that built Internet Explorer.

%name Catch up on all 7 seasons of ‘Game of Thrones’ before Sunday with this 2 minute clip by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

If you don’t have time to go on a marathon Game of Thrones binge before the first episode of the eighth and final season airs on Sunday, you could always try and get your hands on as much recap and summary material as you can. Barring that, though, there’s also a much easier way to get caught up.

It’s not a perfect solution and certainly leaves out a lot, but the roughly 2-minute clip at the top of this post does an admirable job of condensing all seven of Game of Thrones’ previous seasons into one quick bit of footage you can easily absorb ahead of the grand finale.

Marvel fans are freaking out about a mysterious ‘Avengers: Endgame’ spoiler from the film clip

%name Marvel fans are freaking out about a mysterious ‘Avengers: Endgame’ spoiler from the film clip by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Marvel on Monday finally released into the wild that scene from the first act of the movie we’ve heard so much about in recent weeks. After showing it during three separate private events, Marvel released a version of it during Good Morning America and Jimmy Kimmel Live. We’ve already analyzed it thoroughly since Disney’s shareholders meeting in early March, although it’s a lot more fun to watch the actual footage and hear the dialogue than reading about it. And it turns out there’s some controversy surrounding the whole scene as fans think there’s a smart spoiler hidden in the clip. Before we explain, I’ll remind you that all Avengers: Endgame footage contains spoilers for the movie, so if you don’t want to see any of the clips that Disney and Marvel have released, you’d better avoid what’s about to follow.

Microsoft just fixed one of the most annoying things about Windows

%name Microsoft just fixed one of the most annoying things about Windows by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

One of the most annoying Windows features ever, one that lasted through many iterations of Microsoft’s popular operating system, was the prompt to safely remove a storage drive before actually yanking it out of the USB port. I know I’ve violated that rule countless times during my Windows days, mainly because it didn’t always work as intended. And I have never experienced any data loss or any other issues that should have made me realize that I should have safely removed the drive before ejecting. Going forward, Microsoft will let you remove that flash drive or external drive whenever you please, without bothering you with prompts.

The International Space Station is disgusting

%name The International Space Station is disgusting by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The International Space Station has been home to space travelers for nearly two decades now, and with the current crew of six, there’s been a total of 59 expeditions — or, teams of astronauts from the U.S., Russia, and other countries — since it was put into service. With so many human bodies moving in and out of the spacecraft, it was bound to get a little bit dirty, but a new study of the insides of the ISS reveals just how gross it’s become on a microscopic level.

Using samples from various surfaces, NASA researchers reveal that there’s no shortage of life in the space station, aside from the astronauts themselves. Bacteria and fungi have taken up residence in the spacecraft, and there’s reason to believe that some of them may cause problems down the road.

The release of Avengers: Endgame, if you somehow weren’t aware, is less than three weeks away now.
