While Apple is in the process of finalizing iOS 8.0 for a release to consumers in the next week or two, we have been told by sources that the company is already preparing to seed a new version of iOS to testing partners. iOS 8.0.1 is currently planned to be seeded shortly and should contain further enhancements to iOS 8.

One of the never-before-seen iPhone features that the iPhone 6 will be able to deliver is NFC-based wireless payments. As many reports have detailed, Apple has already inked deals with major card providers including American Express, MasterCard and Visa. But that’s not the only kind of deals Apple made ahead of its wireless payments attack, as Bank Innovation reveals that the iPhone maker has already reached deals with five major financial institutions including American Express, JP Morgan Chase, Citigroup, Capital One and Bank of America to lower card transaction fees for the upcoming iPhone 6 feature.

FCC chairman Tom Wheeler just gave a tough speech about the state of broadband competition in the United States and it seems to bode very poorly for Comcast’s proposed merger with Time Warner Cable. Per The Washington Post, Wheeler ripped into what he said were broadband “duopolies” in many markets while noting that “meaningful competition for high-speed wired broadband is lacking.”
