So, what’s the deal with the iOS 8 jailbreak anyway?

For some iPhone and iPad users, jumping aboard iOS 8 is not an easy decision — not because they’re worried about whether their older iOS device can deliver a great experience with the new software, but because they’re currently enjoying an iOS 7.1.2 jailbroken device. As is always the case with fresh iOS releases, jailbreak users are advised against installing the new update (in this case iOS 8) on devices that can’t be restored to an older, jailbreak-able, iOS release. But jailbreak hackers are apparently already at work on the first iOS 8 jailbreak, iJailbreak reports.

%name iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus: Here is our first look by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Here we go… as is tradition, we always manage to get our hands on Apple’s new iPhones a wee bit early. This year brings two different models, and judging by what has been reported and written, the iPhone 6 is the evolution of the iPhone line, while the iPhone 6 Plus can almost be considering a new type of product for Apple — one that might even be able to replace the iPad mini.

Here are my initial observations, followed by a boatload of photos.

Canadians drive a lot. Collectively, we average between 15,000 to 20,000 kilometres on our cars each year, according to Transport Canada. Because of this, a vehicle’s ability to travel long distances without major problems or costly repair is a huge aspect to take into consideration when it comes time to purchase a new or used car.

iSeeCars.com recently released its findings for the most reliable cars known to last past 300,000 kilometres or more. The study was based on a sample of used vehicles listed online ranging from 1981-2010 that have more than 300,000 kilometres on the odometer, thus seeing which models are really going the distance for their owners. The findings, which listed the top 12 vehicle models with the highest percentage of 300,000-kilometre travelers, are quite interesting. Only one car made the list, the ever-popular Honda Accord. All the rest are either trucks or SUVs.

Click here to see the top vehicles known for rolling past the 300,000 kilometre mark and still going strong. It’s important to note that while these are the vehicles that have stood the test of time up until today, we can’t guarantee future results if you decide to opt for one of these from a current new car model year.

Apple just rolled out a great new way to buy iOS apps

%name Apple just rolled out a great new way to buy iOS apps by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

During this year’s WWDC, Apple made several announcements related to iOS, OS X and the App Store that targeted both regular device users and app developers. One of the new Apple Store features introduced at the event was something called app bundles that promises developers they’ll be able to bundle together multiple apps and sell these special packages to iOS users when iOS 8 arrives. The bundles will offer users cheaper access to apps: Each bundle will be more expensive than the combined individual prices of the apps in it, but cheaper for the user than buying each included app separately. Now, these app bundles are finally live in the App Store.

%name EXCLUSIVE: No chance of finding an iPhone 6 Plus tomorrow by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We just spoke with multiple sources at carrier stores and authorized Apple retailer partner locations, and the straight up fact is it’s going to harder to find an iPhone 6 Plus tomorrow than a Turbo Man. We are told that stores have been receiving shipments all throughout the day, and out of all the new iPhone 6 models received, typically only about 2-3% are iPhone 6 Plus units, and in only one color.

There is “no chance” of finding an iPhone 6 Plus unit to purchase tomorrow, we were told. Sources also said there are no 16GB iPhone 6 Plus devices to be found.

It’s amazing how quickly an iPhone with a big display can win someone back. Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak, who in the past has not been shy about criticizing Apple products while at the same time professing his love for rival products such as Android and the Microsoft Surface, now says that he’s getting an iPhone 6 and is dumping all of the Android phones he once praised.
