Nintendo slipped a secret feature into its latest Switch update to speed up load times

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

A couple of weeks ago, Nintendo rolled out system update version 8.0.0 for the Switch, which brought several new features to the console, including the ability to transfer save data between Switch consoles. That appeared to be the highlight of the update at the time, but in the days since the update arrived, some dedicated sleuths have discovered a hugely important addition that wasn’t actually listed in the official changelog.

According to users who looked under the hood of the latest update, Nintendo quietly made it possible for the Switch to overclock its CPU to 1.75GHz in some instances, thus enabling what they refer to as “boost mode.” This new feature has since been found to speed up load times on two of the most popular Switch games.

The Alexa enabled Sonos One is still on sale for less than it was on Black Friday

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Just yesterday, we told you about a killer deal on Amazon that slashed the price of the $200 Sonos One Voice Controlled Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa to just $149.99. Sonos recently released a newer version of the speaker with an updated processor — but the 2nd-gen model doesn’t feature any changes at all that impact sound quality, so why not save some money and get a 1st-gen model? If you’re wondering why we’re telling you about this sale again so soon, it’s because you’re running out of time to take advantage. The black model is already back up to $169 (still a great deal!) and it’s likely that the white version will be close behind. Hurry!

(Also of note, you can still get two Sonos Play:1 speakers and a $30 Amazon gift card for $298, or a Sonos Playbar with a free Sonos wall mount and a $50 Amazon gift card for $699.)

Sonos One (Gen 1) – Voice Controlled Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa Built-in (White): Too low to display

Here are the key details from the product description:

  • Start and control your music with your voice. Amazon Alexa built right in.
  • Play songs, check news and traffic, control your smart home and enjoy all those other helpful Amazon Alexa skills using a single Sonos speaker.
  • Ask Alexa to Play music from Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, TuneIn and SiriusXM. Listen to hundreds of other streaming services with the Sonos app.
  • Connect wirelessly with other Sonos Home Sound System speakers to play music in any or every room. Power Supply- Auto-switching 100-240 V, 50-60 Hz AC universal input
  • Enjoy surprisingly rich, room-filling sound from a smart speaker.

OnePlus 7 Pro’s design was just confirmed, just as first camera review comes out

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The OnePlus 7 announcement is just still two weeks away, but the company can’t wait to launch it already. OnePlus already talked about the phone’s new display and confirmed that one of its new models would have three cameras on the back, a first for the Chinese smartphone maker. That’s on top of all the rumors that have already spoiled the fact that OnePlus will have three new phones in stores soon, including a 5G version of the Pro model. The same rumors revealed the phone’s new design, at least for the Pro and Pro 5G versions, as well as their key specs. But OnePlus wants to share even more details about the OnePlus 7 series, having just confirmed the Pro name as well as a new design. On top of that, the first company sanctioned camera review has already been published despite the fact that the OnePlus 7 hasn’t yet been announced.

Did you love ‘Avengers: Endgame’? This live iPhone wallpaper is going to blow your mind

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Avengers: Endgame is smashing all sorts of records at the box office. Last Thursday night, the movie set a new record for preview screenings by pulling in $60 million in a single evening. Endgame’s $350 million opening weekend in the United States set a domestic box office record, while its $859 million haul internationally set an international opening-weekend box office record. Finally, the $1.2 billion that Avengers 4 pulled in during its first five days was also a box office record. At this point, it’s safe to say that Avengers: Endgame will handily top the $2.058 billion that Avengers: Infinity War managed to take in during its run in movie theaters last year. In fact, if it manages to keep up its record-setting pace, Endgame could very well surpass Avatar’s $2.788 billion box office total and become the top-grossing film of all time.

If you’re a hardcore Marvel fan, you’ve undoubtedly already seen this blockbuster movie in theaters. In fact, you might have already seen it two or three times. While it’s fantastic that the wait is over and fans can finally see how the remaining heroes try to undo the damage from Thanos’ snap, it’s also bittersweet in a way. Avengers: Endgame marks the unofficial end of Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Spider-Man: Far From Home is technically the last movie in Phase 3), and things are going to change big time from here on out — don’t worry, we won’t say how because this post is a spoiler-free zone. If you’re an iPhone user who is looking to commemorate the occasion but you haven’t found the right way to do it, we’ve got just what the doctor ordered.
