Scientists found a tree in North Carolina that’s a jaw-dropping 2,624 years old
Humans have a habit of shortening the lifespan of trees. We just love to cut them down, and we do so with startling efficiency, damaging or wiping out forests that have been around for centuries and some for much, much longer.
The United States is no exception, but there are still small pockets of the country that are pretty much the same as they’ve always been, and researchers recently spent the time to study one such area in North Carolina. What they found were several trees that easily top the 2,000-year mark and at least one that is well over 2,600 years old.

There’s a ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ scene that might be just as heartbreaking as ‘Endgame’
We expected Avengers: Endgame to break our hearts while delivering one of the most exciting MCU stories to date, and now that we saw it we can easily say it did all that. The Russos showed us that everything is possible in the Marvel universe, but it all comes at high cost. Yes, the Avengers win in this one, and that’s not really a spoiler. We never doubted that they would beat Thanos in Endgame. We only wondered what it would cost them to pull it off. It turns out that we’re not done with the heartache just yet, however, because something might happen in Spider-Home: Far From Home that will shake us to the core. Mind you, some Endgame spoilers follow below, so steer clear if you haven’t seen the movie.

Elon Musk mocks Blue Origin’s lunar lander announcement, embarrasses himself in the process
SpaceX is the current leader in commercial spaceflight worldwide, but it’s far from the only game in town. Blue Origin, founded by billionaire Amazon boss Jeff Bezos, has been working on its own reusable rocket technology for some time now, and on Thursday Bezos took the stage at an event in Washington to reveal his company’s plans for a lunar lander.
A massive mock-up of the lunar lander prototype, named Blue Moon, was shown on stage, and it didn’t take long for SpaceX founder Elon Musk to respond in the most childish possible manner.

Science tells us exactly how stupid that dragon-killing ‘Game of Thrones’ scene really is
The last Game of Thrones episode that we saw isn’t just the worst in season 8 when it comes to IMDB ratings, it’s also the worst in the entire history of Game of Thrones. The Last of the Starks annoyed people for various reasons, as we’ve already explained, but the most important one is the lack of logic in some scenes. The killing of Rhaegal, as spectacular as it might be, is incredibly stupid considering how it was all orchestrated. And some Game of Thrones fans dove into the math and physics of the situation in an effort to explain precisely how stupid it really was.
